Does the poly fill you buy in big bags at Walmart absorb copper (cupramine)?

Not to my knowledge. I won’t even use that as filter floss because I’m worried it might be coated with fire retardants or mold inhibitors.

I have used the craft poly-fill for many years (especially for freshwater filtration). I don't believe that it absorbs copper, but it is a cheap and reasonably effective media for mechanical filtration. As Jay mentioned, there is a risk to using it.

So what do you suggest instead? I have a HOB. Heard a lot of good things about using polyfil from Walmart. I have an aquaclear 110 with the sponge it came with, coarse sponge, poly fil, and a bag of bio rings. I do have copper running so took my chemical filtration out.

For aquaclear filters, I just use replacement filters for that brand. The bulk polyester fiber from a craft store is what I don’t use.
