Day 21,

Calling it. Will do a final 4th week post, but after 3 week there was too much negative affects and negligible results. I could see using it 2 times a week as it probably should be used to support growth and color. Trying to accelerate growth and color will elevated dosage did not produce hoped results.

i will continue to use it, the coral did respond positively. More as a twice weekly feeder.

Week 3 comp pics.

I moved a bunch of stuff and started cleaning to get the tank clean and back under control. So pics will not match up 100% and coral a bit upset.

They only thing that did great the whole time was the digi, who knows why? And I broke one of the sticks today, D’oh

How are you keeping your phosphates down during the 30days

I hit 1 last week. I put in 1.5 cups of BRS High Cap GFO for 3 days. That pulled a lot out. I followed with a cup. Now I have Phosban in there. I want to be careful once I get into the lower numbers not to strip it. The BRS stuff is powerful.

My #’s right now are

SG 1.23
ph 8.1
ALk 10.2
Calc 480
Mag 1360
No3 15

A big water change next week, done with gfo, and back to regular dosing shoul get me back to my normal 1.024, ph 8.2, alk 8.3, calc 440, Po4 .04 and No3 5. I hope

Also you said When you go back to your normal levels you want your alk to be at 8.3 Why wouldn’t you want to keep your alk levels elevated to a minimum of 9 so you lps grows faster

Wrap up.

I did a water change yesterday. I have to checked #’s since Monday. I’ll will check on Monday or Tuesday to be sure my dosing is still set correctly. Results were mixed. I never saw a feeding response from some of the coral like I did during this trial. I did get some good plating from 2 of the sticks. The digi is the one that really responded well.

So, yes I will keep using but back it down to 1-2 times a week.

Next up will be some lighting changes

Final side by side.

*note. A few rocks had to be move, a frag or 2 broke during cleaning, usual stuff as I am still working on rebuilding. The newest are on left, older are on right.

I feed reef droids once to twice a week. And I feed reef nutrition oyster feast once a week. I do weekly water changes... Everything is seeming to like my schedule... want to start dosing 2 part, but I need to get more test kits before I start doing that... That's why I do the frequent water changes...

Awesome experiment mastiff... I have to much invested to attempt something different from my norm...

Thanks. 2 parts is not as bad as you think to get set up. You may save money in the long run depending on tank size and your salt. The oyster feast is supposed to be some really good stuff. I was thinking about trying live next round of experiments. I am shifting my lights just a bit so I want to be sure everything settles first.

Then I may try the live foods next.

I stopped the force feeding of the Reef Roids and did a interior cleaning and pulled what I hope is the last of the turf algae out. I am switching my t5 up a bit and will try again with a new feeding system.

Here a here a a few from after the cleaning with a few new frags.

I am taking this thread in a whole new direction. Going to use it to show coral reaction to any changes made in the tank. The reef roids experience was the first.

As we continue, it is not scientific. Coral may come and go if I kill it ( hope not o_O ) or move it. I will try to use same pic order and same angle.

I am 2 weeks into a lighting change. i have an Ati t5 6 bulb. I switched 1 purple plus for gisemann actinic. It has been 2 week, since the last post and some color has changed.

Some side by side

LEFT TODAY. RIGHT 2 WEEKS AGO

Had to re-glue a broken frag back to rock. The original area is still encrusting and the new spot where I placed it on the left is starting to encrust. Turned green

45121138-7093-4DE6-B0AE-EFFC089E7800.png

Had to turn the rock a bit on a rescape. Not much vertical growth, but encrusting well and turned green. Hard to tell but climbing up the rock more, angles different

This about the same, last pic was just horrible.

I need to reglue this. That is why it is partially behind the rock. The red is starting to come back in only 2 weeks from the way it should look.

Digi has had some noticeable growth in 2 weeks with the new light.

Lost a Coral + t5 bulb and had to put a purple + in. Not going to really be able to show any change based results since I had to change lighting. So just updating pics until I replace a whole new set of t5 bulbs.

I can say before I swapped the purple for the actinic I had cyano. Once I pulled the purple the cyano went away. With the purple back in the cyano is coming back.
