Hi reefers,

For about a year or so I have been noticing these balls of substrate randomly showing up in my sand bed. I haven't really worried about them as they dont seem to be doing any harm and I normally just vac them out when doing a water change. I thought I would take a closer inspection this week. From the naked eye in the tank usually all you can see is a ball of substrate, but when you pick them up they feel like a plants root system. I tried my best to remove the substrate to get a closer look and took some photos and was quite surprised. To me they appear like possibly an egg of some sort but was wondering if any of you guys know what they are for sure?

Cheers
