I just moved my powder brown tang from my QT tank after 30 days into my DT. He has been in my DT for 7 days, eating great, swimming around and not shy at all.it was swimming this morning when I left for work and when I came home he was dead? I only have a small rabbit fish, a Timor wrasse and a small flasher wrasse in my 120 gallon DT. When I got the tang out I noticed his belly was white? It might be normal when they die but I am not sure.really just looking for any ideas of what might have happened?

Probably just the mucus layer coming off. Was the fish eating well? Were you feeding nori on a daily basis and having enough for the fish to graze for 3/4 of photoperiod?

How are your parameters?

Are your other fish ok? Were the other inhabitants properly QTd before they were added to the aquarium?

Any other new coral or inverts added to DT without QT recently?

Color loss is normal post-mortem, and varied amounts of "white" on their bellies is somewhat normal depending on how "fat" they are, and how they feel.

I too am sorry for your loss, and curious your answers to @HotRocks' queries above.
