As the title states, I'm searching for powerheads that work on 1/2 inch thick glass.

Currently use two gyre xf250s but one is broken. Was hoping I could find a cheap Jebao but it looks like none work on 1/2 inch glass.

Any suggestions that are not expensive MPs?

You sure about that. I ran an older Jebao on my 265 … 12 mm glass.

I used the Jebao CP-150 on my 180 with 3/4" glass. They were able to handle 3/4" (though barely) so they should work well on 1/2" glass.

Don't think Tunze fit the not-expensive requirement LOL ….

I never could find reliable tank thickness info for the Jebao pumps; plus they're always changing the model numbers and the manufacturer name ….. intentionally I think to make it difficult for the consumer to know exactly what is what. I don't use Jebao anymore, but I'd guess that if you go for one of the larger pumps it'll work fine with 12 mm/1/2" glass. Not an unusual thickness. Now if you were asking about 1" thick …. then the options thin considerably.

They cost less than a gyre.

Oops. I actually meant my tank is 3/4 inches bc its 180g rimless.

Aha ….. that makes more sense. 3/4" is where many powerheads start to not stick. Not sure you are going to find much in the not-expensive realm. Vortech MP40 is a push at 3/4", MP60 better …. WAV will work, as will some of the larger Tunze models. Gyres might too, but I have not used them.

Dang. No way to change the title of this thread?

I think you're right Ca1ore. Minimal options for 3/4 inch glass

As I said earlier I used the Jebao CP-150 and they worked. The magnets held on all but 1. That 1 held while in water, but would fall during water changes (when it was out of water. I now use MP40's and they work great.
