I had a SCP120 gyre, but even on low it would make pyramids of sand, on high it would splash water out of my 109 gallon Bow-front.

I got the SCP 90 now and it should be enough to start, but I might get an additional little powerhead when stuff grows.

what the??? I am way underpowered comparing to some people here. For my 95g cube I am setting up, I plan on two mp40. I guess I need a third. LOL
Not really, depending on what you plan to stock the tank with you might be fine. My friend uses 1 mp40 in a reefer 350 with a good amount of acros and his tank is killer!! It all depends on placement and how you stock it

4 pc 6055 Tunze. But to be fair, they pulse in pairs to set up a current. Then the other pair pulse to reverse the flow about every 5 minutes. So only 2 pumps are on at a time. 110 gallon Oceanic BTW.

22 gallon nano book shelve.
3 Hydor Koralia 425’s.
1 lower right end panel for behind rocks
2 one on each upper right and left end panels
The two upper end panels flow alternating 6 hours with 5 minutes off time between pump switch.
The one behind rocks flows constantly except for each five minute pump switch.
I use smart receptacles to control/program pumps.
Tank is 9 months old and still being dialed in.

One tunze 6065 running right to left in a 5ft 150. No corals at the moment so it's a reliable and quiet option to keep the gravel from getting too crudded up and knock down cyano. At some point would like to get 2 tunze dc controllable but not necessary at the moment. Like the concept of gyres but refuse to buy anymore Chinese products and to my knowledge there isn't a US or European gyre.

Water movement in a saltwater reef aquarium is important on so many levels so using the right powerheads in the right configuration for your tank is a pretty big deal! That being said there is not a "one size fits all" solution when it comes to the number of powerheads you need, which brands you use or where they should be placed. For the most part anyway. But it should still be interesting to see how many powerheads are members are using!

1. How many powerheads do you have in your saltwater aquarium? (what size tank do you have)

2. Which powerheads are you using?

I have a current 29gal tank and using a Tidal 75 as my hang in filter and the flow is pretty strong I have 3 torches and they love it, I wanted to frag a birdsnest from my main 175gal and see if it likes it in the 29gal to experiment if it’ll survive. (Ofc if I see any issues with the frag during the process he’ll go back in the 175gal)

2 Nero 3s in a 20g cube. Only reason I have 2 is because of the all the Acropora. After I move the Acros to the new tank I’ll only have 1 in the cube.
A pair of MP40s on my RedSea 24” cube. Mixed tank. Hammer corals and montipora and a clam.
