Thank Junio
How you recommend to set 60% for my lights.
If lights change so quickly, will effect on coral and algae ?

Hello Junio
What's type of calcium reactor you are using.
I have GEO 618, but can not get enough my ALK. Have to dosing every 2 day. Try to more water out and more CO2 bubble, but doesn't help.
Can you help me out.
Thanks

Hi Mike!
What's your tank size? Do you have many hard corals?

The rule I use is:
- low alk, low Ca - more CO2 (lower pH);
- high alk, high Ca - less CO2 (higher pH);
- low alk, high Ca - more effluent flow;
- high alk, low Ca - less effluent flow.

It is just a guide, not an absolute truth.
If you need a very low pH to maintain Alk and Ca, maybe your reactor is smaller than you need.

Sorry to get into discussion, but this case:

"high alk, low Ca - less effluent flow. "

are you sure about that? If effluent will be less - yes your alk will start to lower, but also and Ca.

What do you do when you have correct alk, but Ca is low?

Hello armetas.
Rule is not mine. Can't have the credits for it.

You are right! Lowering the effluent, alk and calcium are going down but not as much as if you low CO2 (less calcium carbonate dilution). alk usually falls faster (higher consumption) leading to an ionic equilibrium.

Correct alk and low Ca does not have an easy solution , cause calcium reactor is more an Alk reactor IMO. We have higher concern about alk than calcium and you can note it in the guide. I wouldn't risk alk oscilation to correct calcium. Using calcium chloride for adjustment and then calcium reactor for maintanance would be the safest choice.

Thanks Junio
I have 250 net gallons. Before i had a lot of SPS coral, but zeovit system killed over 50% :-(.
My Cal is good on 430, but Alk always low.
Now i have to set less effluent flow or set more CO2.
My CO2 is 3 bubble a second now.
Thanks

Hello Daniel.
I made some minor changes, but you can see the base schedule in this previous post :
Thank you, I have three hydra 26's and I just cant seem to dial them in for some reason. I have a mixed reef with some acros and euphylia and I seem to make one thing happy and then something else doesnt like it and vice versa.

I know what you mean. That can be quite annoying. LPS don't seem to like intense white leds light. I keep them under 50% .

Awesome system!

You have any pictures of your filtration/sump area? I was thinking of doing a reactor type refugium myself, then I see that you're actually doing it! Love to see a photo of it.

Thanks! Congratulations on Reef of the Month. Nice honor!
