It's not for everyone but I like color matched equipment. The hobby has so many aspects and to each is own. I like the fish and setting up a clean plumbing arrangement.
I wish I'd done the grey and orange...

1. Over the years I have gone from 'needing the newest thing' - to minimizing my equipment Thus there is not much equipment to make 'pretty'
2. I like the look of many of the well organized 'pretty' tanks - BUT - to me it looks like a lot of effort if one needs to do maintenance, etc.
3. Keeping things 'organized' - makes sense from a safety perspective.
Not on your life

I'm a stickler for servicing and cleaning equipment. I own a lawn/irrigation business so that carries over to my hobbies. I want to present a professional image and maintenance just saves money. I like my equipment tight and right but cord management is another issue. I learned a valuable lesson when I had to undo everything to pull a bad pump once. Won't do that again now cords just lay loose behind the stands for easy access unseen. Kinda like my work truck it's clean on the outside and filthy on the inside. It's a waste of time trying to keep it clean because of all the dust and grass every day. Nobody sees it same as my wires.lol
I am in the don’t care club… my sump area is not pretty at all. It’s all behind closed doors.
I will probably eventually make it somewhat tidier and put the stuff in a cabinet next to the tank but this is just for ease of maintenance if I need to unplug something so it won’t be super pretty. Just not a tangled mess.
No matter how many cool colors of acrylic or under cabinet lights you have… your skimmer still stinks and is full of fish poo.
Oh and I have Apex but there is nothing sleek or modern about a bulky orange plastic controller.

I do love such nice and clean looking sumps and setups.

OMG so many pretty sumps lol I’m 100% opposite…behold my chaos under the tank…
Don't care here. Display is tidy. Everything else is in my unfinished basement and it is scary to look at. Clip on lights hanging over the water, wires everywhere, etc. Nice thing is it doesn't bother me and I have no reefing buddies and we don't entertain so no one sees the mess but me and my Gal.

I WOULD like for everything to look neat but no room for a sump so stuck with HOB equipment and everything in the tank.

I prefer to run as minimalistic as possible and don't want something to look like a science experiment or take attention away from my display tank... so try to keep everything as simple and hidden as possible.

I don’t like it ugly and unsafe but I’m not ever going to have a “gram worthy” sump or equipment room photo nor do I ever want a fancy gear setup - I just want affordable, quality, reliable products that will work for a long time that are easy to maintain and have replacement parts readily available if you need them.
