For the past week or two I’ve noticed a stringy type of what I though algae was growing. I’ve been researching and I think I have Dinos. Seems to not be as severe in the mornings and then gets worse through the day it’s creating bubbles throughout the day. It doesn’t seem to be bothering any of the corals it does tend to get stuck in the birdsnest. I read an forum on here and collected some of the strings and put h2o2 in with it and didn’t create any bubbles. I tested my phosphate today and it was .01 last week it was .09. I removed gfo today. I have a barebottom low nutrient tank it is 8 months old. I’ve added more fish last week to increase nutrients. What should be my next steps I’ve never had to deal with Dinos before.

It's hard to tell from the blue light pics, but it might be cyano as well. Do you have access to a microscope?

if you have a sump, a UV sterilizer will work really well. What I would do regardless is start dosing MicroBacter and follow the "dirty" instructions. That helped me battle dino's when I had them not too long ago.

I will post pictures under white light tomorrow. I forgot to mention. I am running a uv sterilizer. I agree I thought it could of been Cyano but it’s not matting at all but could be because of the amount of flow I have in the tank. I did the h202 test the someone else mentioned on here and it didn’t bubble at all.

I have actually been running a uv from the beginning. Are you talking about Microbacter 7 or clean?

What I did personally was take Purigen and GFO out of my canister filter, just run sponge and ceramic filter media, and dosed for two weeks MicroBacter7 and Vibrant which I happened to have as well, I dosed the double dose of Vibrant two times a week for two weeks and followed the instructions for "dirty" on the MicroBacterCLEAN, I saw improvement after a couple of days.

I have both of these so I will try it out and see if that helps. I actually did just a regular does of vibrant this morning so I will add the other. Thanks.

Keep the phosphates a little higher (maybe 0.1). What are your nitrates at?
