A few hours after dropping them in, looking good! Have some good hope for these bunch as I've been growing some other SPS and LPS well the last few months. System is becoming more stable!!!!

This is probably my most favorite order. With all the live sales and after sales the $/frag wasn't too bad either :)

Pro Clear ProStar 220 V1 - **THE SUMP**

Note: This is V1 of the tank and sump

I have always built my own sumps, this one is pretty much a simple sump that one could build pretty easy

Good:
Huge sump area for equipment
Fit all my equipment and then some
Oversized skimmer, BRS reactor (carbon), Tunze Macro Reactor, Oversized Return Pump and still have room
ATO mechanical float valves works as designed
Large enough to hold all the water in the event of a power/pump failure
Cover works well
Nice size leaves enough space in the cabinet to run piping, electrical and storage

Bad:
Not a good design if you want a refugium
Fits non standard size socks
ATO tank is kind of a joke (after the piping the second thing I tossed)
Have to remove front support to remove sump (I guess the issue with a large sump

Modifications:
Changed out the sock holder with one that fits standard 4" socks
Gravity feed from another ATO container (40 gal Brute that is made up from my RODI system)
Came with eggcrate type stands for the fourth section I don't use (maybe to place media on???)

Sump

Waiting for a few parts from Pro Clear Aquatics, they are quick to get back to me but parts sent my snail mail :).....

In the meantime working on the "underneath". You can see the plumbing I'm putting together. The standard plumbing is metric (DN) and comes with a valve but is pretty cheap. I knew this and understand at this price point and have no issues with it. I didn't mind as I wanted to do my own plumbing anyway. After reading on R2R it looks like most folks re-plumb the others ones such as RS and WB.

In the lower right is the existing valve that came with the aquarium, the new plumbing (BRS) takes up the rest of the photo (still cutting and dry fitting).

Also bought some under cabinet lighting. I really like it, comes with mounting tape (or clips and screws), tip tie holders and mounting tap for cord management on/off and dimming switch (I'll plug directing into APEX). Its pretty bright and low profile. Setup was perfect for a 6' cabinet.

I absolutely love this build. I am a newbie reefer and currently have the JBJ 45 AIO which I have had for less than a year. I just recently bought the Prostar 200. I learned here on r2r to go big or you’ll forever wish you had. How true that is, lol.
I was going to use the plumbing “as is” but after reading about some of the builds here on r2r I think I should upgrade like you have. I plan to use the socks, add a skimmer, and algae scrubber/reactor and use the Apex controller system as well as other equipment on my wish list.
Anyway, I have never set up a sump let alone plumb one. Hubby’s going to help me but I want to learn how to do this myself.
I am not sure how different the plumbing is between the 200 and the 220 but I was hoping you could help me with my list of plumbing parts and where to purchase.

Your setup is tight and pro style. I am a perfectionist and I think you are too
Hopefully this will not be beyond my (and my hubby’s) abilities. Any advice you could give or direction you could point me to would be great.

Again, stellar job!!

How has the Prostar been working for you? It’s new on the market and not a lot of reviews or information about it.

Thanks for sharing.

I have the 200. If you're going to plumb it with the original supplied plumbing it will take all of 5 minutes. I went that route and have had no issues since install.

Hey Big C,
Just wanted to let you know that I finally read all 14 pages of your build. LOL
Good stuff. Post some pics. Let's see the progress
Got ride the the ulva, a bit of bubble algae but other than that not bad.

Finally got some acrid in, PC rainbow and TCK Thunderbolt taking off.

Zoa garden growing in. Starting a torch and hammer garden now.

Got my Hanna high range nitrate checker from Saltwater Aquarium. Love it! No more guessing at the colors!!! Seemed to match my Salifert test kit pretty well.

Ha ha! Just reading on Shane's @SBB Corals thread where he just now posted about this unit.

It is on my list once I burn through another box or two of Salifert NO3 kits.

One packet, wait 7 minutes and you have a reading. Easy. I just need to order some more reagent (which I forgot as I was rushing to pre order).

Congratulations on your build. Everything about it is fantastic!

I am currently building a ProStar 150 and use your thread as a guide lol. Hopefully I can build something as great as yours. I am far though... I am currently stuck on the plumbing. I thought it was EU metric.. to my surprise it's Japanese...

Anyways, again, fantastic job and I look forward to more posts!
