Some further evidence that microbial biomes are essential to coral health.

Anyone having any direct experience with probiotics in their tank? I noticed Tropic Marin has been pushing forward with the probiotics recently, like their bio actif salt and reef snow.

They claim “Most coral reefs have a high amount of biopolymers available and in household aquariums that amount may not be as concentrated” Any evidence this may indeed be the case?

The complexity of dosing reef tanks for this purpose may be similar to the complexity of dosing a wild reef:

"For example, applying probiotics to large reefs that boast hundreds of coral species seems logistically challenging, Roach says. And there could be unintended consequences. “What’s good for one coral may not be good for other corals or organisms,” Roach says. “For ecosystems as complex as coral reefs, I can’t see doing this on a large scale without having some unforeseen, potentially harmful, effects.”
