Tank Delivery Day Has Finally Arrived

On December 15, 2020 our new 365G Custom Reef tank from TANKME USA was delivered by Gaston. One of the selling points for selecting TANKME USA was the optional custom delivery service. My wife and I documented the entire move-in which started at approximately 1;15Pm with Gaston and is move asistant (Albert) leaving just before midnight. It was a long wild day with many challenges as you'll see in the video. BTW...paying for the optional delivery service is SO SO worth it! After watching this video try to imagine doing this move without professional help.

I applaud your patience! We started our builds around the same time, and I’m going crazy with mine
I find there are days where I just don’t have the motivation to post and then I’ll finally get a burst of energy. Hang in there with it - it’s all about what you want from it.

Wow!! I just read/saw all of this for the first time. After I got started, I wasn't sure if the tank would get finished or delivered by the time I got to the end of the thread. What a beauty!! Not sure what to say, but I don't think it could have been done any better. I will personally visit this guy and see what it looks like when it's all up and running.

Plumbing The Tank

I always knew that plumbing the tank was going to be a major project, but it took exactly twice as long as I had anticipated (figured on 4 days and it took eight days). I had over 300 pieces of plumbing to put together and I knew I was going to do the project slowly to avoid as many leaks as possible and I really wanted the finished look to stand-out. What made the plumbing project so much easier was the custom stand that I mentioned in an earlier post (check post #57). Being able to attached all the plumbing on the underside of the stand ceiling got me the finished looking I was trying to achieve. You’ll notice that I went “union” crazy and placed one everywhere. I can’t stress enough the importance of using unions everywhere. It absolutely saved me when it came time to fix leaks!

BTW.....one of the greatest tools I purchased for my plumbing project was this:

It reduced my pipe cutting time by 80% and each cut was perfect with zero burrs/shaving to remove.

Here are some pics of the plumbing project.

Testing The Plumbing (Water Test)

I'm a bit behind on updating my build site, so I'm going to try and get a couple of postings done today. In my last update I mentioned that the plumbing for the tank is completed. So back in early January I was able to perform and full water stress test on all the plumbing. Out of the 170+ connections that were connected on the plumbing system, there were 8 leaks - all of which have been since fixed. Most of the leaks were on the back side of the tank where the manifold system was built. Here are some pics of the water test. I tested each 1.5" drain line separately which is what is going on in the first picture. I was being cautious to make sure there wasn't going to be any major pipe leak.

Tank Build Update - Almost Done!

Just got these pictures and video today from Gaston. All of the Euro Bracing is now installed along with the back brace for the dual Hybird Zero Overflow boxes. Tank now needs to cure for a few days and then we’ll be just about complete. Gaston informed me today that next week he is starting on the tank stand. It looks like we are still on target for a mid-December delivery! Here is the video and pics.

Did you intentionally remove the tank move in video? I bet it is awesome. Really a fantastic and very interesting build, thanks for the detailed share, I really enjoyed the read.

No I wasn't even aware that the video was missing until you pointed it out. I'll get it re-posted right away. Thanks for letting me know. And thanks for the kind words on the tank!
