What do you guys think? I’ve never bought fish on line before so I pulled the trigger on a saltwater fish.com order. I have set up a QT tank see picture. I’m getting a CB butterfly, coral beauty, clown goby, and another small white tail Pygmy. Plus an arrow crab, and a starfish sand sifter. The crab and starfish will just have to go in the dt. The fish I’m going to QT and separate! If any of the fish show ich I think I’m set up to try the tank transfer method...fingers crossed.

They are very small. The coral beauty is 2 inches, the butterfly is also smaller and the clown goby is tiny, it will fit through the grate. The white tail Pygmy is also less than 2 inches. After QT they will go into a 65 gal DT.

I would get a separate tank for the CB.

They are hard to get to eat when alone in QT but with others thrashing I would think that the CB will never eat.

I have never tried one but will be watching along to see how yours does!

No pressure! I agree but I’m space limited. That’s why I’ve divided up the tank to keep them from harassing the CB. If I can’t get it to eat I’m a couple of days I’ll do something different!

First update. All fish arrived today and alive! Drip acclimated them for over and hour to get the temp up. Salinity and ph were both very close to my QT parameters. Both Pygmy angels look fat and healthy the clown goby is super fast and already eating as is the white tail angel. The CB butterfly looks like he may have a bit of fungus on his snout. I’ll get a better look tomorrow when I turn on the white lights. Fingers crossed!

So after a week in QT the CBB is eating scallops like a beast and just started eating frozen Mysis. But yesterday I noticed this tiny spot on his tail at the very top top. It’s only visible in this first picture. The coral beauty and yellow clown both are healthy and eating well. I started copper power yesterday along with the erythromycin I have been using all week for a mouth fungus the CBB came with. Do you think that one spot is ich? Should I do anything else?

Really! I can’t believe no one has an opinion on what that spot is. If it is ick would it fall off after 3 days? I was thinking if it does drop off I would try a tank transfer for all three fish and keep treating them with copper power. They have been in copper for 3 days now and seem no better or worse. I have dosed the required amount to get 2.5 ppm. But I don’t have a Hanna checker...so I’m just guessing! Suggestions?

Hard to tell what that spot is. If it is ich, it can stay on the fish for up to about a week, I believe.

If all fish are getting therapeutic levels of copper power, then there's no need for tank transfer method. Just finish the Cu treatment (2 weeks+, depending on your philosophies). Then deworm and get them in the DT, if they are eating well. If prophylactically treating the butterfly, then I wouldn't make it go through QT longer than necessary...just my opinion there.

That spot looks most like lympho to me. They usually present on the clear part of the fins but can be anywhere. If so it's not a threat and will go away with good husbandry and good feeding. At some point I would probably treat with General Cure for external parasites just to be safe. That is a routine part of my QT procedure. If any of the fish start flashing/rubbing I would do that sooner rather than later.

Thanks for that, I was treating the butterfly for a mouth fungus with cipro and then this spot appeared. His mouth looks much better but this spot started my copper treatment.

Here is a slow mo video, maybe it will play. If it’s lympho how do I tell? Stop all medication and see if it gets worse?

Well it didn’t appear as though the fish had any ick, it seemed the lympho appearing was because of the size of the QT and the copper and the prazi. So after much observation and consideration I moved them over to the display tank. All seems well so far.
