I'm concerned about the purity. It mentions food in a vague way without saying that this material is food grade.
what you say makes since. High purity ( 98% + ???? )and food grade as requirements for aquarium use, not form it comes in. (flakes pellets or powder).

Stated high purity is also not useful. Totally pure calcium chloride dihydrate will be less than 80% calcium chloride due to the moisture in it.As you note , the physical form is unimportant.
