In the video from @Reef Builders "Reefology 101: Everything We Do To Mix Seawater for the Saltwater Aquariums" () Jake mentions using a filter sock when mixing seawater. Does anyone know if he's adding salt directly into the filter sock and then letting it dissolve inside the sock, or is he adding salt into the general vat and then just filtering the freshly mixed seawater through the bag? I'm asking because he mentions wanting to avoid grinding his pumps with precipitates from adding the salt, and the surest way to avoid the grinding would be to add the salt directly into the sock (assuming the salt actually dissolves within the filter sock).

Thanks.
