long story short GF is trying to veto my plans to have 2 large(ish) tank in the new home.
i thought i was getting the living room for a man cave but as it a open plan concept we are struggling with the layout.

I want her to have her space but all so want my fish room...haha

I have the 180g sps tank, 40g breeder frag tank, and I told my wife I was running out of room so I needed a new tank. So I got the 225g told her I saved all sorts of money since I built the stand and sump myself. If she only knew.

You said it’s open concept....
What about getting a peninsula style tank and using that as a “wall” to partition off “your” area from the main room?

that is the plan a WB 5526 peninsula between the "great room" and the TV- man cave -fish room then a RS 750 on the other wall

I think that is a great plan but she having a hard time with all the tank lights and not feeling like she has a space.

I think tho we can turn the grate room with heigh celing into her living room so we each get a space..haha

We have a 300 gal 6’ and 93 cube in family room. Also have 300gal 8’ in living room that blocks living room window but only place to put our tank. We Lov the tanks and the dumps are in the basement.
It can be done. Good luck!

The freshwater is only a 29 gallon. Love the footprint, and it’s easily a favorite setup. From my seat on the couch this is to the left of me on the opposite wall.
The reef is a 70.2, and it sits to the right of me.
