Thank you, Your estimates are lower than I hoped but a good reality check. I think this ones going to the saw.Considering WWC sells frags for ~$150, I'd say $400-500 for that colony.
But it will only attract collectors; the average hobbyist will see a $250 watermelon chalice.
Super nice piece man! You have me wondering the same? Mine appears to have had a green rim with rainbow specks in it since day one. Did yours ever have this much green in it? Here’s the WWC photo of mine and the frag in its first week or so. Currently I have this on the bottom of a 90g, under 4 T5’s and an XHO RB.So here’s my WWC rainbow rim fresh cut frag starting to heal. it’s under very strong lighting..... you can see the rainbow rim starting and the green is less than noticeable! I wonder if your piece is in low or high lighting?
Generally what I’ve learned about these type of chalices is the higher the light the more the dark undertones go away and it tends to turn much later that is why mine is mostly red! Much less less purple tones and golden eyes, but I also believe that that is when the rainbow colors have the best chance to develop the pastel tones you see on my rainbow rim....Super nice piece man!
