Sorry if this sounds stupid, I’m chemically illiterate and have had trouble finding my answer in the search.

currrently I’m using Red Sea foundation A,B,C for my calcium, alk, and mag.

If i switch the part B to Randy’s DIY hydroxide recipe for the PH boost, can I continue with Red Sea A and C? Or does the switch to the DIY alkalinity require I switch the other 2 supplements as well?

You should use Randy’s complete part in the hydroxide thread, since each supplement brand is made to be balanced when using the whole system.

Thanks!

one more question…. On the dosing calculator do you use recipe 1 or recipe 2 for the hydroxide version?
Recipe 1.

you can use other additives for the other parts, if you have them around, but it won’t be 1:1 dosing any longer and you’ll need to figure out doses.

Randy, isn’t your recipe for the Ca part identical to BRS brand?

Yes. The BRS soda ash/calcium chloride product is my diy recipe #1, and the hydroxide is just a swap for the alk part in that recipe.

Randy, can this recipe be enriched with the TM A&K trace elements like the original version can?

I think so. If you see a precipitate in the alk part, then no. lol
