Ugh. 66. Lowest scores in coral selection, growth rate and algae control. My cleanup crew doesn’t like to eat algae near my vortechs, so I have to keep moving the pumps or the rocks. Snails keep dying (spiny Star astrea) even though there is algae to eat...

I spent a lot of time planning and automating (as many of you know if you've seen my build thread or read my Apex Programming Tutorial series), and am pretty happy with my tank. My biggest issues at the moment are bubble algae (but it's getting better) and aiptasia (I'm surprised there wasn't a scoring category for nuisance outbreaks).

Sadly, I can’t give a full assessment of my system. I’m waiting for my 115 gallon display to be delivered sometime early this week.

All I’ve got is a big hole in my checking account where the $7,000 I’ve dished out for this project used to be and this:

So far, I’m quite satisfied with what I have. This is my third time setting up a reef tank in 14 years, so I’ve been through all the issues people struggle with and I learned a lot about the corals and fish I want to have. Not to be too cocky, but I believe my tank will be quite beautiful in a few years when my corals grow out to full-sized colonies.

I love the pile of cords behind the tank! That’s brutally honest and probably what most people are doing - including all of my systems minus the one I’m currently setting up.

Thanks! At least, I only have 1 switch to flip if I need to turn the system off. And my light is on its own circuit, so i still have light when I need to do maintenance. That's actually a whole lot more organized than my last setup! I'm thinking of maybe getting some aluminum dog tags and zip-tie'ing them to the plugs. But I wouldn't want to over-do it on the whole organization thing! *Wink*

My sump is stashed in a closet on the other side of where my display tank is.

However, mounting the power strips and control modules on a wall and letting the cords collect below does give you a little bit of order.
