Great thread but I rate both my tanks at 20. Can it go lower? My new reefer 350 has GHA and something else along with diatoms. My Max nano has a serious GHA problem that seems to be migrating to the glass after smothering my corals.

I just did an overhaul on my tank because of GHA! I ended up having to remove all the rock, catch the fish, do a 40% WC. I discovered in a video by BRS, that hydrogen peroxide kills the GHA VERY effectively! (Side note: it also kills bristle worms effectively, too! And it's quite satisfying to watch.) I also had it on the glass and it was covering my overflow! I got about 98% of it, so at least now, I can catch it before it gets out of hand. In fact, I just pulled out and treated a rock yesterday that was growing a patch again. And when you put the rock back in to the tank, it just releases extra oxygen bubbles. It does NO harm to the fish or inverts! In fact my tang and angel were picking at the bubbles on the rock. I highly recommend!!

I've tried. GHA just comes back. Depressed. Anyone want a good deal on $$$$'s in tank? Love my fish, and snails/crabs, but it's become very difficult.

Hang in there. I just found out from my LFS that the outbreak I had was most likely due to my new light that I put on my tank A YEAR AGO. I never would have thought! But he said it takes about 2 years to straighten back out after something as simple as that. Blew my mind! It does get very discouraging, and I even took about a 5 year hiatus from fish tanks, but I feel like I had time to learn from my mistakes. And my biggest mistake was in throwing in the towel.

2) - The overall look of your tank
Love the way my tank looks on the left side not so much the right side and algea is a big distraction
3) - The ease of maintenance for your tank
Other then manual removal of algea it's not bad at all
3.5) - The coral selection you have in your tank
I buy pieces I like so I'm happy with that but need more to make the tank look better
1) - The growth rate of your corals
Less growth in over a year on my pieces then some get in less then a month
3.5) - The fish selection you have in your tank
I love my fish they are all peaceful and good varieties in type and color but want to get a few more and specifically a few anthias
2) - The cleanup crew in your tank
Good variety but definitely need more
4) - The substrate or lack of substrate in your tank
Love my sand bed
-50) - The algae control in your tank
Yea the only algea control I have is at least once or twice a week of manual removal hoping my algea scrubber helps when I get it hooked up
3.5) - The aquascape in your tank
Love the left side but the right side needs work
3.5) - The overall equipment you have chosen for your tank
My equipment is good and getting better just need to get it dialed in and figure out what I'm missing
4.5) - The lighting of your tank
Kessil a360x with t5 proven light and I'm happy with it cant say whether or not it's the best as I havent tried everything out there
5) - The flow in your tank
Reeflo hammerhead 2 neptune wavs and a tunze wave box should be good on flow
2) - The filtration of your tank
Tank runs high nutrients and lots of algea so I know it needs more filtration
4) - The automation/control of your tank
Have every thing that needs automated done no awc but I'm fine with that
2) - The wire management of your tank
It's out of sight out of mind lol
4) - The brand of aquarium you have
It's not a $3000 tank but it holds water and looks nice
3.5) - The material your tank is made from
It's just standard glass
5) - The quality of your tank stand
Custom built stand that could hold a tank that weighs 3x as much as mine with a beautiful canopy and surround
5)- The location of your tank
In the living room and I love it
4.5) - The overall cost of your system
Got pretty good deals on almost everything
