I have a Hydra Aquatics Sponge Filter that was being used in my QT Tank for the last few months. I had some flatworms in the QT, so I am am swapping out my QT tank as I prep for a new fish. I would like to re-use the sponge filter which connects to an air pump to help with oxygen during meds. I am wondering what I can clean the sponge filter with to kill anything in it..bacteria..flatworms..etc. this particular sponge filter is large (4x4-8) and is also weighted, so it is not the cheapest one out there.

is the best solution to soak in a mild bleach solution and then let it dry out?

Any advice is appreciated.
