im not gonna lie.. This really makes me want the Aquatic life with extention kit to fit my 2 Mitras LX7's in the middle, and set it up for only 1 cord out the back. so all 3 can zip tie together.........my only visual issue is my water 130.4 is like 47" end to end... im thinking the 48 would look goofy on that... so im thinking or wondering if 36" would look better on my 47" long waterbox

I agree, I think the fixture being wider than the tank would really bother me. How would the two Mitras fit within the 36” Aquatic Life? Would it allow enough spacing or would the be crammed in the middle. I’m not familiar with the dimensions of them.

they have 200mm wide so they would go length wise.. and i believe they are around 12ish long... but id have to get the aquatic life side extentions that makes the fixture 19.4 total width.. only way they would fit...

My tank is like 47x22 ....

This is my 134.5 with a 48" best pic I have on my phone right now.

Actually doesn't look bad. I'll have to think about that. Hard to see but being so close to ends is there t5 light spill on sides of tank in room. Or with the t5 sockets. Is it about same distance in as the bulbs are from front and back? My mitras are I believe are 12.5" from water surface now

I doubt you would see a 1/4” difference especially split between both ends. I would go with it, I don’t think you would regret it.

I just measured my 36” fixture and the actual dimension is 35.5”.

Fixture is 9"off the water level which is about 1" from top of tank. There is some light spillage but it doesn't bother me that much. Distance from front glass edge to light is about 4" to the edge of the reflector, maybe 5" to the bulb. Sides is a little shorter maybe 2-2 1/2"to the bulbafter the socket.

Looks really good! The problem we are seeing is the variety of aquariums that the fixture is used for. As an example, I'm not sure this would work for the customers wanting to use it for a peninsula aquarium.

We are working on other layouts and designs but they are not finalized yet.

Thanks for sharing the mods to the fixture.
How about 6 bulb versions of this? The only reason I haven't gotten one yet.

Dang, I wish I would have known they were coming out with a 6 lamp version. I just put two 36” ones up on my new tank.

That post is from 2018, Dave was talking about what ultimately ended up as the DX fixture more than anything.

I have a 4' fixture on my 4' tank, light spill hasn't been a concern to my eyes. The actual bulbs are ~45" long, there is a bit of dead at the end of the housing which is 47.5" total.

The 1 cord mods aren't too hard to do, and there are some accessories out there to mount light bars or other things.
