Just got results from Reef-Labs ICP, which was incredibly quick turnaround btw… anyways, showing a deficiency on some trace and wondering which ones, if any, are of concern, and what action I should take to correct. I’ve been slacking on water changes as of late but the “plan” was to perform 2x water changes weekly for 3 weeks and retest. If still deficient on those, then I’ll consider dosing, but only if necessary/what’s necessary.

I use ESV B-Ionic salt system, and also dose ESV Transition Elements, as well as carbon dose with NOPOX. If NO3 gets too low I supplement with ESV Nitrate.

Attached a screen shot of biggest concerns from sample.

Thanks…

I don't know that there is a clear need for anything, since ICP may not tell us the whole story, but I think it's a fine plan to dose more of the ESV transition to pull up the manganese and zinc (iron is fine to go up).

Or try a mix like Tropic Marin A and K to also add some other ions that are low.

IRT the Transition Elements, directions don’t say max dose, but the increased dose is 1ml/20 gallons, and I’m currently around 1.5x that amount. Any harm in a further increase?

Would the Tropic Marin A & K be in lieu of the ESV TE, or in conjunction with?

I was basing my recommendations off the ICP, not any directions, so my recommendation is the same.

If you switch to TM A and K, you can either stop the ESV, or continue. Nothing in the ESV will be problematically overdosed by adding TM A and K to the tank was well since all the components of the ESV can afford to rise more.

Just didn’t know what your thoughts were on directions vs result, so figured I’d ask!

Thanks for your input here!

@Randy Holmes-Farley last question here, if I wanted to boost my 2 part with some trace, can I add the TM A to the ESV b ionic alk part and TM K to the cal part, or will there be an insolubility and/or precipitation issue? I believe the B-ionic cal part also has magnesium in it, if that’s of concern.

That will probably work. I’d try a small batch first to make sure there is no precipitate.
