Hello,

I've found a used cabinet for the Red Sea 425 XL. The seller noted that it's a version one (Red Sea is currently on Version 3). Should I be worried about using this older version? Any structural issues that were fixed in later versions?

Thank you so much for your input!

I’m sorry no one got to you sooner. The Red Sea line has made a few modifications to secure the integrity of their tanks. Before version 3 many tanks were failing. The stands are low quality and have reported sagging in the middle. The sagging led to tank fails.

Hi Ryan

I have a RSR425XL v1 that I bought second hand. It’s now about 3 years old. I’ve had no issues with tank, sump, or stand. It looks almost new and has an offset middle brace in the stand.

Make sure the fittings are tight in the stand and level properly before putting tank on top. I have not seen any stand issue for the 425XL.
