I now plan to go with mushroom and LPS dominant in the tank, possibly go for one SPS two at a max, still on the edge about a Clam but I may end up doing it but I may drop that idea. If I did go with an SPS or two it would be a staghorn, preferably a blue but if I go with two I’ll probably grab a green too.

So now in terms of mushrooms, I have:

The green rhodactis mushroom is completely extended, still planning on the next mushroom to add. Probably a red disco or Rhoda tis but I may try grab a blue Rhodactis or similar to that.

Just because I think this is the best reason to own a Clown goby (Specifically a black - G. acicularis/unicolor/strangulatus). Here’s what I saw when I woke up, so interesting to see how these fish can change in colour so drastically!

Also an update on my Leopard Wrasse, she’s doing great! Growing at a nice pace and already half the size of the naoko. Hoping that since I got her at .25” I’ll have her for Atleast 7 years.

The Rhodactis is growing big too. The hammer that I got with it is nice and “bushy”!

I found a TINY mushroom coral. Looks like a small polyp of Ricordea yuma, in the front of the tank.

Also these strange worm like creatures have appeared in the sand bed. They’re definitely not diatoms or cyano. Looks somewhat like a spaghetti worm, but all I see are the tentacles from the sand bed.

Preparing the tank for a new addition I’ve been wanting for a few years now! Finally delt with cyano and other issues tells me it’s mature enough. The new fish is one I have hinted to and even mentioned every so often (I don’t know if I have in this thread though). Biggest clue I can give about it is it’s rather small and a goby.


Also, been doing a “Tahitian reef” mural. More like I’ve taken a bunch of coral/fish from French Polynesian and put them onto the desk. It’s about a 4.5 foot long and 2 foot back piece of wood.

I’ve moved where the flow hits back and moves it up a bit. Going to attempt something I have never tried before, a GSP wall. I got more flow to the top of the tank So the GSP have some nice flow to catch food, also put them next to the return (Bad move I’m now realising as I have a WC to do weekly). How long can these specific coral live out of water but still wet, is it near 30 minutes? The putty has hardened so there’s no chance of me managing to move them.

Quite possibly coming back from the LFS with a small pod eater. Had my eyes on him since June 21st 21 and he’s still there and healthy. Going to bring back some chaetomorpha for him too. I may try have a small corner of Macro just for this guy to hunt and “play” in.

I have had my eyes on some of the spotted mandarins that come and go but unfortunately not quite ready to tackle one of them yet.
Instead it’s a goby, it’s got a beautifully long dorsal spine that gives it one of its common names.

Getting closer - I do already have a yasha yes. I don’t think I’ll get another stonogobiops unless it’s a yasha or black ray.
Hmm, the one I was looking at has a long dorsal spine which is often called a spike and it moved over its head when the fish crawls forward.

It also looks like a fire (A hint to its other common name), they’re orange, white, yellow, and black on their face.

Haha, guess you’ll find out when I take a photo of it in the LFS!
id recommend going out of the box for this one, they’re not commonly found in a store however there is a group of goby lovers who own them, one of them is Karen00.

Exactly! I love Discordipinna griessingeri, have wanted it for a while now and only in the past two years did I manage to find it three times. I waited for a properly established tank though just to make sure I can sustain their need for pods. This is also why I passed on my dream mandarin several times. I love them but I prefer the griessingeri much more.

Picked him up a few hours ago (5 hours ago) and acclimated him for about an hour. Got the shrimp out “No trouble at all”. Or that’s what I wish haha, man that b****** was a nightmare. Rocks rescaled many times to try get him out, I’m now unsure if I have hidden my conch behind a rock or not and it’s way too late to turn back now… guess we’ll see if I find my favourite snail in the tank again or if I have to tear it down to get him out. Here’s the goby in “acclimation”:
3:30pm (I was going to try finish the water change in my 4’ tank so had him in a measuring jug but got worried about cooling water temp so put him into acclimation a few minutes after this)

Here he is in the tank! Man look at that grouchy face, I’m in love. This guy is my crown jewel of my tank now for sure!
