Well… I unfortunately lost a fish today, I so far have it down to old age due to the colours being totally gone. The way I found him dead was by catching my Anemone Crab eating the remains. Yet another fish I have watched being eaten and both were known for being nano wrasses.
I loved this guy too much to put it into words… RIP stripey with a Mohawk…

The thing is my guy was acting totally normal yesterday, no signs of anything wrong. Today he just flipped and I can’t get his body out because the anemone crab has hold of it and has hidden right in the back of the rockwork with it. I’m hoping when I go to my LFS they will still have one of the two pink streaks they had last weekend. I’d love to attempt another tanakai but I haven’t seen them around in quite some time.

I experienced the same.. no signs of anything... and then all of a sudden I found him dead in the rockwork...
my fathead anthias also passed away one day later and both had NO signs of anything..

I really dont know what happened.. maybe the wrasse and the anthias had a fight? Anthias had lost some of his tail..

yeah.. i think im good for now..
i have a pair of clowns and 3 baby chromis in the tank.. not sure if more fish would be a good idea

Well, I’m going to the LFS again today after leaving it a week and having no other deaths, last week they had a possum and a pink streak, the possum had been in for several months before however my clam has stayed shut for some reason so I wonder if the Pink Streak was helping out with some form of pest so I’ll grab the pink streak if he hasn’t died.
For now enjoy a photo from yesterday of the Blenny waiting for food to drop in the tank (There was a jug on the other side of the tank which made it look like he was in a staring contest).

Well, I didn’t manage to get a second pink streak as the one they had got sold 5 minutes before I got there.
Going to another Not So Local Fish Store tomorrow in hopes I can get either a beautiful alternative or the perfect pink streak.
For now, a beautiful older photo of my leopard.

I went on a shopping spree for blue and purple today as they pop nicely under whites.
Got one sweet fish species too but won’t show that fully till he’s in the tank.

Here’s the Acropora I got. The tips are an electric blue/purple that fades into a green sort of base coral. Absolutely beautiful.

And the seriatopora, the polyps aren’t out yet so it doesn’t look like much.

And what I think everyone’s been waiting for, the new fish.
I was talking to the guys working at the LFS and somehow brung up the Pink Streak Wrasses (We had been talking about wrasses a lot as one of the guys absolutely loves them). They mentioned that they had 2 and 1 was reserved so I jumped on it. Then I spent a good hour (Probably 2 actually) looking at the coral and picked up the Acro and Seriatopora.
We then spoke for a good hour (Well, we were talking the whole time I was there and now I can fully trust them - I trusted the owner as I have worked with him before but he wasn’t in today and was away).

Thankyou so much!
Oh man, the first posts really do show progress haha.
Finally going to attempt photography with coral now! Obviously photography with fish will continue but now I’m getting more SPS I’ll try log their growth and get better photos of them (Loving the Staghorn at the moment).

It’s coming together very nicely! I like the wrasse you purchased. What do those little black specs mean? Is that part of its normal coloration?

If I remember correctly, the black specks are just the colouration as juvenile.
As they age they’ll grow out of it and the black specks won’t be there the whole time. Another tell tale sign of this being juvenile is her sheer size, she’s only about .5 inches (Probably just under that).

I’m looking forward to the near future as I think this is the start of SPS entering (So far I’ve been lucky with the blenny only nipping the rock around the coral).

As for where I’ll place SPS, I think I’ll keep the Staghorn growing as the only one on that rock depending on how it grows.

The rest I think I’ll put on the front three rocks here. So I’ll probably have some other encrusters on the rock with the monti (Maybe 1-2 more sticky ones) and then most of the sticky ones on the rock with the seriatopora and beneath it probably the plating sps.
