When I dilute RODI water with saltwater per Red Sea instructions the color in the vial looks purple and the color chart is pink. This only happens when I use the high range test, but the low range only goes up to 4ppm.

Anyone experience this?

I think it might be yiur lighting. Also if you put it down those "binoculars" the shade makes it pink and bit too dark. When I look at it under sunlight without the black binocular, so just compare the naked vials against the wheel, its much closer in color

Low range should go to 4ppm. High range is 4+. The higher the concentration the darker the color is, since 4ppm color is the darkest it can go, thats why foe the high range you gotta dilute first.

It really can’t be my lighting because I’ve done both tests multiple times in the same place in different days and low range is true to card end high range is purple. I try to compare the tone instead of shade with the high range.

High range test kit. Results outside. This is really weird and very unexpected from Red Sea quality. This never happens when I use the low range (the standard). I will only use the low range from now on with this test kit.

I think that result is supposed to match the lighter side like the third picture. Try taking it out of the binoculars like I mentioned before. The hue should match better.

Also, it looks like some of the reagents haven't fully dissolved? I think I see the grey particles in the vial? That may also be contributing to the color shifting to the grey side.

If its really out side the range (as in, too high ppm), it will turn into a shade of purple that will look very obvious and less see thru. Ur result is rather clear so it should have intended to match the lighter results.

I’m shaking vigorously and letting it sit for the allotted time. I don’t know why it doesn’t fully dissolve. The low range dissolve perfectly.

I use RODI water, but RED SEA states they need RO water. Where can I find RO water?
