Top down shot of the maxima clam. Clams may be my favorite thing about reefing. They’re so interesting and the colors are amazing.

I almost threw out this green tabling acro. It was the only acro that looked worse after the dips. I’m glad I kept it though - it’s starting to turn green again. You can see some color on the top tip of the frag. Oregon tort in the background

I ordered a CUC pack from IPSF a while back. The littornid grasses have been my favorite little snails. They’re already reproducing in my tank. Here’s a little baby I saw on the glass today (white spot on the glass)

I’m working from home and my tanks had a consistently low pH. The past two days were pretty nice and I could open up the windows. Look at how the pH rises above 8.0 over the last two days! It’s at 8.15 now. I don’t think it’s ever been that high. I’m kind of toying around with the idea of dosing kalk to raise the pH but I’ve also read not to chase a number.

It’s really fascinating watching the dry rock “come alive”. I’ve never had a tank with dry rock before so this is a new experience compared to starting with live rock. It definitely takes a lot longer and more patience for everything to get established with the dry rock. I filled the tank up at the end of feb and now it’s august and I’m seeing coraline really starting to pop up on the rocks finally. I’m also thrilled that I have no aiptasia, bubble algae, or bristle worms!

It’s been a while since I gave an update! The corals are all doing well. Here’s a few pictures side by side compared to the last update:

I’m starting to question mobius controlling the light and pumps. In theory it sounds convenient but it sucks when the app doesn’t respond. I tried to adjust the light schedule for winter and day light savings coming up and the changes wouldn’t save. So I submitted a problem ticket to Ecotech Friday night. Then today one of the vortechs stopped spinning. So I checked the app and I’m getting more errors. This is happening on WiFi, LTE, my phone and an iPad.

I have to give Ecotech credit for their support. They got back to me first thing this morning. I needed to unplug the pumps and then update the software.
