Not a whole lot of difference according to the DecibelX App on my iPhone SE2 in noise coming from the fan on the two EB832 readings from the same energy bar. Top reading before sending in the energy bar to NS. I Thought there was a lot of noise coming from the fan so Neptune Systems simply said send it in and we’ll check it out. Funny thing: bottom picture shows a reading of almost 7 decibels (I am not an audiologist) lower but the noise is considerably less from what I remember. Unit is in the dining room and I’m in the kitchen, next room over and no household appliances running. It is barely noticeable from the kitchen !!!!

If you look at the avg., high, peak & low on the right, there is a significant difference.

Wow thanks @Fudsey totally missed it! I'm not a statistics kind of guy but there is significance in the stats you speak of. Not exactly using purpose built equipment here either. Device is my phone.

Sneak peek. I have an 80//20 project coming up. It’s not for light mounts.
4445CE5C-3C9C-47F8-9220-1F87D0FAAAD6.jpeg

Here’s the reveal of the peak. The 80/20 project. Just a frame to sit on the perimeter of the RSR 170 utility stand. Plywood goes on top of the frame then the quarantine tank on top of the plywood. The frame takes the whole weight of the quarantine tank and distributes it around the perimeter of the top of the stand even though the QT isn’t near as heavy as the tank that was designed to sit on this stand. The way the designed tank is, it distributes it’s weight even though it doesn’t need a frame underneath. However the QT doesn’t extend itself to the edges of the stand and sits centered on the stand away from the edges because the base isn’t as wide or long as the tank this stand is designed for and therefore the QT’s weight is centered centrally on the stand. Without the weight distribution, the stand will be stressed and compromised. I bought the plywood as a quarter sheet which is hard to find instead of a full 4 by 8 feet. I can cut it down to size myself but will need a friend with his router to round out the corners. Then I will stain it to help preserve. Paint it for color and give it some polyurethane for water resistant properties. I will get images and document the wood working.

Building shelves for inside the cabinet. Cut up the pieces with circular saw. Added brackets to shelves. Cut holes with hole saw for routing cords. Checked the fit. Ready to paint Apex orange. Waiting for grommets for cord holes.

(2) flush socket receptacle kit with cord tails. White kit goes where circle flush on backside of shelves in cabinet. Tail end plugs into EB832 and skimmer plugs into white socket. Since EB832 hangs on outside of cabinet and various cords go through hole from inside cabinet to outside, makes pain for unplugging equipment and removing cord and all from cabinet. Skimmer cord will now be unplugged from INside cabinet.

Other kit (black). Flush end is male instead of female. (2) grounding probes with 250 system. One for tank and one for sump. Black kit splits into two tails: one for each g. probe. Black kit tails are female in gender so compatible with g. probes. However, flush end of kit is male US 110-120 Volts. Will need short normal extension cord in this going to wall receptacle. Stray voltage from either g. probe will turn off Square D brand circuit breaker and in turn Apex will turn off everything voltage in system except from battery back up.

Was planning to attend MACNA this year in conjunction with a trip to visit my son in Chicago since the show is only 2 hours from him in Milwaukee. Due to his college schedule I won’t be able to visit during the MACNA schedule. However I will be visiting him this month and a trip to Shedd Aquarium is in the works.

Shedd is fantastic. Definitely worth going to the extras if you have time to spend in the Aquarium.

@Projects with Sam thanks for the post. I would love to get a back stage pass to all the research tanks however that's very unlikely. Places like this rarely are funded entirely on admission fees and get a lot of grant money for doing research on the side.

If you go to the field museum, on the second floor, they have windows into the paleontology labs and one can watch as they remove fossils from rocks!
@Projects with Sam that's really cool, we don't want to miss that!! Do you live in Chicago area? Visit often?

I live in the burbs now but years ago I lived on the Southside very close to the museums; I would take my kids quite often. They had a lot of workshops and kid play areas. We would sneak into all the Expos at McCormick Place.
No one questions a guy with 2 kids in a stroller... "Can I just take them into the bathroom?"

@Projects with Sam I’ve never been to The Windy City personally but have been across Lake Michigan in a car-carrying ferry with my family when young. There was a huge storm on the lake going across and I got major lake sickness from it.

Added a water container specifically for salt mixing/changing. Not custom made for me but still very expensive. Had to fit in a precise footprint in the RSR170 utility stand. The utility stand will soon hold the QT/frag tank on top and the bottom for water mixing/changing, 2 vessels plus maybe some electronics.

Pink streaks are beautiful fish. Shy but beautiful
@Crabby48 do you know anything about the Timor Wrasse? (See Video in this post.) The video supplies a lot of basic info but must have missed the part about whether they are sand sleepers/divers or not. Do you know?

@1:35 he says they hide in the sand for a few days when they first get them into the shop. All Abouts are great!

@Projects with Sam I did miss it. I wonder if having a bowl with sand for the first few days would be alright then take it out and have BB?

May work though if as a stress response he hangs in sand he may be SOL if its removed and he has a stressful situation without a place to go.

@ScubaFish802 actually it's a new brand I think. New at BRS anyway, Hmahli. Looks like Bashsea. I like it. It's a Cadillac.

@Projects with Sam totally agree now that I think about it. Saw a thread on here a guy had a canary wrasse with BB. He said it dove into the bottom glass and broke it's back. It swam with a big crook in it's back until he euthanized it.
