I have been around the Reef2Reef community for a while, then finally made a profile around 2016. Share a few pictures on some of the forums threads, but never started my own build thread. Probably waiting for my tank to mature in a way that I know I was going to stay around with the tank for a while. After moving to south Florida (Miramar) and having a nightmare with a previous Nano tank, finally took the decision to go for a big tank for the first time since I have been in the hobby (around 15 years). Always had some Nano tanks around but never bigger than 45 gallons. So here is my Red Sea Reefer 425 XL started April of 2018, 16 months old.

Equipment list:
Red Sea 425 XL
Two XR15W G4 Radion
One XR30W G4 Radion
Two Reefbrite LED Blue bars
Aquaticlife T5 Hybrid (recently added) I know, a lot of light!
Two Vortech MP40
Apex WIFI with two DOS pumps (Aquaforest component 123, mix in house)
Apex COR 20 return pump
Aquamax FC-120 Skimmer (went without skimmer for a year, initially I installed the skimmer but due to very low nutrients I decided to go skimmer less until the system was mature enough and I have detectable nutrients).
Refugium with miracle mud and chaeto.
ATO system (I think this is the first extra equipment that you need to get)

Tank have change a lot during the first year, first was a mix tank with a lot of LPS and some SPS. Then started to buy more SPS as the tank mature and now I would say is more a SPS tank than LPS. I love montipora!

@Robinson Amazing job on the tank. The colors are out of this world.
Are you only using a refugium for nutrient export?
What is that box you using for a refugium and are you still using it?

Hello,

Was only using refugium for around a year until the tank matured and I have good level of nutrients, then activated the skimmer. The box is a Tetra Glofish aquarium:

What I did was make some holes around the tetra aquarium to allow the flow of water in out. This has been working really good.

This was at the beginning of the tank cycle, and yes I still using it.

Thanks!

Robinson.

Wow, amazing tank! I just recently got a Reefer 250, I'm loving it so far. How have you been liking yours now that it's almost been two years?

Thanks!

Really happy with the Reefer 425, I wish I got the bigger one. But that will be once I run out of room for coral grow. I did have nano tanks for a few years and was afraid to go bigger due to initial cost and maintenance cost, but the true is that is more easy to keep things stable.
