Hellow fellow reefers,

As we all know some people hate red sea others love it.
Before any reply contains you should never by Red Sea or anything like that in my experience i got 3 tanks from them (170/350) and this new tank.
Lets ask everyone some honest opinions and why.

The red sea REEFER MAX S-1000 G2+ are eurobraced.
particuliary 2 panes of glass stacked and siliconed
i noticed this in the euro brace between the 2 panes of glass

What do you think about this (its only in the seam between 2 stacked glass and its in the corner where the long brace meets the front brace.

Geez even the braces are getting bubbles. If this a brand new tank and under warranty I would ask for a replacement. You paid for a non-defective tank and it's a reasonable expectation to receive one. Of course RS may fight you saying it's ok and to monitor it to see if it gets worst. Just hold your ground and keep going up the chain until they agree.

It’s a bubble, the thing that makes them fail.

I am very interested in this case. Is this the G2+ S-MAX 1000 ie top of the line tank model with the full aluminum stand? This is unexpected.

It's the top seam and it looks brand new during the first fill.. I'm guessing this is a manufacturing defect.

Just saw these posts. Can anyone tell me if all of these fails are tanks that do not have front support. My tanks stand is not under the whole tank RS XL425. The front panel is full of bubbles but we just put clamps as I had seen another person do to stop the leak. We put them on to give us a piece of mind.
I want a strong tank, forget rimless, a traditional type is good. This leak stuff is crazy. My old tanks never had that problem and one was 10 plus years. An oceanic 75 gallon something like that. The 100 gallon was an all glass it had a middle support. The hurricane Harvey caused many problems and I did not revive my tanks. Waited, waited to save for a RS. I feel so misled. I did not see all this information about leak failures. Had I known I would have not bought a RS. I really like the surface of the cabinet and how it was packaged.
Can anyone tell me what brand has the old fashioned traditional reef tanks. With a rim. The LFS guy assured us the front panel just hanging out over the doors was okay.
We are going to try to repair our front panel. Thinking of trying to support it better. First, the tank should be sitting on a surface the whole thing, not with the front glass hanging out there above the doors. Stupid design my opinion. We are going to buy a board (strong) and put it under the whole bottom to support all of the tanks sides.
Has anyone successfully fixed their Red Sea?

I have the same model and just filled it and notice something similar in the left upper corner where the euro brace meets the front of the tank. See picture below.

Jjg people need warning about this bad thing Red Sea did, good job relaying the warning. Peers are going to have to inform other peers, the sites who sell ads to buy or win Red Sea tanks aren’t going to give the fair warnings.

Yikes even the top of the line eurobraced versions have problems. Those s1000 tanks do not have floating glass panels. There’s an aluminum strip that supports the front glass panels. So something must be defective with the silicone that’s used.

I’m sure hoping there isn’t anywhere near as many breaks on the braced editions like there were on no braced ones, hopefully it’s just a handful. I’ve seen 2 so far, the vast majority are pre braced models

In my opinion, given the prior history, once I see five G2 breaks that will be past the insignificant % breakpoint given overall context. Three more, and then anyone reefing in any Red Sea tank is in total risk

But you won’t hear that from the blogs, they’re silent. All good % warnings come from work threads

We are soon approaching a pattern that reveals no Red Sea tank is safe, in my opinion. Thats a non- lukewarm stance to hold vs one where at no time would I speak on the matter, to any degree.

Regardless of brand, this is unacceptable IMO on a new tank. You purchased a tank with the expectation that it is properly constructed and secure; I would fight for a replacement and accept nothing less.

For sure. Fight for the replacement, sell it completely unused under full disclosure to recoup what you can, and reef with a brand who will take care of you. Do not reward red sea further

In my opinion for a top of the line model such as the Series 550, 750, 850, 1000 G2+ max with the aluminum stand and supported front panel, no such defects should ever happen. Additionally, my personal stand is for the top of the range the tanks must last at least 10 years with no issues.

I didn’t have the heart to sell my replacement and put someone else in this position it sucked the joy of the hobby out of me…

Sort of on topic. This is more for others who may be interested in buying a Red Sea. I had 2. They are both gone. One was a Max S500. I LOVED that tank until two things. 1) the back chamber turned into an ecosystem of its own that you really couldn’t easily access to clean. Aiptasia the size of Volkswagens could be found back there at times. But, for this thread - that tank had a different, seldom talked about design flaw also. The 3 “closed loop” pumps that created a circular motion in the tank, over time put a lot of pressure on that front panel. I woke up to water on the floor one day, but the water was not coming from the verticals seals like the reefer series of tanks. The max has that “decorative” band at the top of the tank. So you cannot tell what the silicon is doing. Well, the water started wicking up from between the front panel and the eurobrace and somehow around all the metals and plastic and down the tank. If I had any really flow it would start wicking up. I’ll have to find that video.

I know, they've done really really bad because they still won't acknowledge the issue to warn others, who aren't in forums to note the trending. Red sea will pay for this attempt by brand degradation.
