Hi All,

I've been out of the hobby for 5 years but excited to be getting back into it. I've always had custom tanks before but I thought I would try out a Red Sea. Unfortunately, we are in a level 4 lockdown here in New Zealand so I cant get the tank onto the stand!! I'm slowly gathering up all the equipment and once we are free again I will be able to get things moving.

I will be using the Red Sea Reef Care system. So dosing Foundation/Colours/NoPox using GHL. That will take up all 8 pump heads.

Will be a mostly SPS dominated tank, but we are somewhat limited by the selection in NZ. Importers are doing good work, but NZ restrictions are pretty high.

Equipment list so far
- Red Sea Reefer XXL625 White
- Ecotech Radion G5 Pro LEDs
- Ecotech Vortech MP40w
- Ecotech Vectra M2 Return Pump
- Deltec 1000i Skimmer
- Deltec VF8000 Fleece Filter
- GHL Profilux 4
- GHL Doser 2.1 (2 units for 8 pumps total)
- GHL Flow Sensor on return
- Aqua UV 57w
- BRS Reactor for Carbon

Crate delivered. A little damage to the pallet but nothing to the tank/cabinet

Tank sitting patiently in the garage for people to come and move it.....

Cabinet all built. Unfortunately this is the only place it can go, so it will sit across the door, which is just a toilet that is never used. Mirror will go. You can also see the GHL equipment

Made the modifications to the sump needed to fit (hopefully) the Deltec VF8000. Was a major struggle getting the side glass rails off but managed. Lost a little blood in the process.... but I survived!!

You may want to permanently disable that toilet (turn the water off), because after you fill that tank you aren’t ever getting in that room again... You could always convert that room to a mixing station or “fish room” - use it for RODI, ATO and automatic saltwater changes? (you’ll have access to water and a drain).

It would mean angling the tank in the corner a bit, but you honestly have a reefer’s dream setup with that small room.

Yuss more kiwis here haha, who is nz did you order your deltec fleece roller though?
No one in NZ stocked it so I had to order from overseas. I try and get everything locally as much as I can. I’ve had to get a couple of things from overseas though.

It’s a good idea. I’ve switched off the water to the room. The idea of the tank on an angle makes my OCD tingle… we thought about covering up the door, but I think I’ll just leave it.
