RedSea Reef Mat install on non-red sea tank

I'm thinking of building a new sump with a new display tank.. Want to go with a RedSea ReefMat 500. Which sumps are the easiest to install this thing in?? Do I need one without a filter sock area? Basicaslly an open tank and then I just pump the overflow directly into the ReefMat?

Are the trigger triton sumps idea for this application since they have no filter sock?

Ideally, yes - one that either doesn't have a filter sock section or one that has an easily-removable one is preferred.
