Reef Octopus skimmer motor control upgrade kit RODC5500 to VarioS-6 Upgrade Kit

Have any of you upgraded your older Octopus (RODC 5500) Skimmer pump control with the kit sold from coral Vue. As i understand it the old 5500 is a 24V dc control and the kit is a new control that upgrades to a 36V. Has anyone used this kit and if so how did it work for you.

I bought this skimmer (Diablo 300 int) used. It came with the RODC 5500 motor and control. It work great but the control does not have a 0-10v port to be able to hook up to my APEX. the kits control does have the 0-10V port and it is a lot cheaper than replacing the motor and control (close to $400 vs $130 for the conversion control kit)
