@AaronFReef first off, stunning tank. Looks incredible.

What was your experience with the Biota Regal Angel? I’m considering giving one a try. My plan was to set up a 20G tank for it to be alone for a while (months) then move to my 130G. I don’t have a lot of aggression in my tank which it good. But I know this fish will come in very small. Any lessons learned with it?

I don't think aggression against the angel will be much of a problem unless you have conspecifics. It's so small everything has ignored it. It does pick at my coral (acros) a LOT. I worry it may be a problem as it grows. This is the dice roll of angels though.

Good deal. Thank you for the reply. I only have softies and LPS. No plan for SPS. . . . maybe a birdsnest in the future, but that's about it.

Really nice work. So much patience needed in this hobby and no substitute for time/experience as seen in your results.

Are your phosphates really 0.5-0.6? That seems waaaay high. What number are you getting on the hanna UL phosphate reading before converting it down?

I also love the gyres, but have had issues with them over time with freezing up, breaking, difficulty dismantling etc. But nothing moves water like them so I switched to Red Sea version and it has been going well.

I am about to get a juvenile CB gold flake and a flame angel in my setup. It's always a give take with doing angels in a reef, but nothing makes a reef tank pop more than having an angelfish in it IMO.

Happy reefing and good luck w Regal.

My levels on the Hanna ULR phosphorus checker are flashing 200 (above max). They're really that high :face-savoring-food: now I'm not saying that's ideal though. I think higher nutrients help coloration from what I've seen but I think that limits out around 0.15 ppm PO4 and NO3 above ten. I wish I was closer to those numbers but I unfortunately didn't design a good enough algal scrubbing system in and am now hesitant to drop money on reactor I have to care for. Trying the chaeto refugium route but it's slow going with my Tunze EcoChic. Hopefully as the ball grows it will start to help level out the nutrients closer to 30 ppm NO3 as the fish grow. They're upwards of 50 ppm today.
