Good afternoon Everyone!

Hope all is well. New here, as a child I had a freshwater tank that eventually moved into a saltwater fish only tank a few years later. Eventually I left the hobby, military and college. Now as an adult, with children of my own, its time to reignite my old love! I work from home and in my office I decided to start a small tank and see where it goes. My goals are to have fun, keep it low(ish) maintenance as I travel for work often, and involve my kids as much as possible. Up until this point I have spent a few months reading, watching, and learning has occurred. That said I am a beginner and don't be afraid to point out the obvious.

The tank, gear, and starter official commission date was 11/29/2022.

Equipment:
  • Tank IM 20G NUVO Fusion Pro 2 AIO, InTank Rear Cover
  • Stand Bush Ash Gray File Cabinet
  • Light AI Prime 16HD lights, ISeaLive Waterbox Light Mount.

Additional Notes / FAQ answers:
What is the AI Prime Light Schedule? Currently, I do not have one. I am (attempting) not to turn on the light for 1 month +.

Did two return pumps, heaters, and everything all fit? Yes, with some effort and minor modifications it all fits well!

Did you Reinforce file cabinet? Yes, with 4x 1.5" dowels painted ash gray.

What Companies did you order from? Bulk Reef Supply, Saltwateraquariums.com, ISeaLive.com. (Lots of black Friday deals)

How did you get the rock to look like that? A mix of first using BRS super glue gel, then covering in epoxy using a small rock / screwdriver to push epoxy deeper / texture.

Here are current pictures as of 12/5/2022. Feel free to ask question and comment, all is welcome!

5 gallon ATO is lasting around 18-20 days before needing to be topped off. Lost 6 inches of water out of 12 inches over 9 days. The ATO tank is 15 inches tall, I figure 3 inch reserve to ensure pump is always submerged.

Everything else is running and cycling nicely. Small changes to refine everything. Tank will be on its own until Monday.

Ordered 2 clown fish from Dr Reef, they will be shipped after holidays.

Tank has been running since late November. I am very lightly ghost feeding and letting the tank cycle / do its thing. Day before fish arrive I will do a 5 - 10 gallon water change and swap basic filtration.

Tests:
Salt - 1.026
Temp 77
Phosphate 0.06
A:LA 7.2

Tank looks great so far! I like the way your aquascape looks!

Thank you! I added a few more rocks and removed some sand, looks a bit better with more room for coral.

Looks great so far. What is the cover that is hiding the equipment in the sump area?

Thank you! Cover is from InTank "Filtration Cover". Its easy to cut and modify.

1/6/2023 - Chemi pure Blue 2x nano added to intank chamber.

1/8/2023 - 4 gallon water change.

1/16/2023 - AI prime light plugged in, yes I waited. Currently running Karen Vazquez program. (https://www.aquaillumination.com/signature_series/karen-vazquez)

1/17/2023 - 4 gallon water change.

1/18/2023 - Arrival of first corals!
  • Spooky Leptastrea
  • Flamingo Leptoseris
  • Incredible Hulk Leptoseris
  • Red People Eater Zoanthids

Notes:
I am loving the process of learning and setting up this tank with my daughters. After a few hours of the coral being in the tank zoanthid plops are opening up and color of all corals becoming more vibrant. Very new to hobby so feel free to state the obvious if you see an anomaly. Pictures to come shortly!

Good morning everyone, here is a tank update.

Tank Occupants:
Tangerine Clownfish
Gladiator Clownfish
Firefish
Tailspot Blenny

Tests:
Salt - 1.025
Temp - 80f
Nitrate HP - 8.3
Phosphate - .17
Alkalinity - 8.7

Notes:
Continue to struggle with green hair algae through the tank. I have upped my rate and amount of water changes with manual removal as much as I can. This has been going on for the last few months.

I have added some GFO and have on order from Algae barn 5280 Pods, OceanMagik, Clean Chaeto - Soft Ball, Galaxy Pods in hopes to get this under control!

I love your scape! And also a bit jealous — I have the peninsula version of this tank and wish I got yours instead. Hope it continues to progress nicely.

Thank you! the standard 20 allows for more filtration room. Im keeping it simple with out running a skimmer and doing large water changes (8 gallons).
