Just as I was talking about the heaters earlier today. Guess what arrived when I got back to the house this evening :)?

Tiles are on the ground...

Freshly installed and grout not yet dried; below are a couple shots of the floor of the room from carpet to tiles. It's unfortunate but I did not realized the tile installer does not paint or caulk the edge surrounding the base board so I still have some work for myself to finish up the trimmings.

Next up will be to high level plan the plumbing...

The other more big decision is whether or not I want to bring over this brand new classic All Glass Aquarium Reef Ready 210 tank or not. Ironically this is brand new / never touched water and is new today as it was 12 years ago when I moved it in. What do you think? If I plum this 210 with the Waterbox 190.5; I would be close to 400 gallon :). It's just the color doesn't match :(

You can always paint it . Some sanding, priming followed by quality cabinetry paint (so all that water won’t blemish it). You can use foam rollers rated for cabinetry, or spray paint if you have better DIY skills.

Thanks @Sordfish. My challenge is really time. Unfortunately do not have much of it.

Have you used or have experience with Vinyl Wrap? Seems like a good alternative path to painting to an extent without damaging the existing finish.

I hear you re time. Between family and work I also find time to be a challenge - hence the reason it has been almost a year since I bought my saltwater tank and it is still dry.

Unfortunately I do not have any experience with Vinyl Wrap. If you decide to go with it please post your experience. I’d love to learn more.

I just placed an order of the white furniture wrap and supplies. I am optimist about the results. Will share the progress and results once I have everything.

Slow progress...

Tank Delivery: TBD

  • I am still unclear when the tank will actually be delivered. Waterbox customer service indicated potentially end of October through Mid-November. I had ordered and paid in full for the tank on August 24! Hoping it would all arrive before Thanksgiving.

Latest update on the room:
  • Finally managed to sealed the grout last week.
  • I just finished caulking the trim. Will be looking to do a little painting next week as time permit.

201G Decision TBD
  • I am still undecided if I will be bringing over the 210G tank into the small room. To bring the tank in, the door will have to be removed as it's not wide enough with it installed. Not a big deal though.
  • So far I have laid out what it could look like and it could work.
  • I like to be able to plum both tanks into the same sump but the current two sumps I have are sized 60G and 50G. The WB 190.5 Reef Pro comes with sump size of 45G.
  • Would a 60G sump work for both tanks?

Great. looking forward to reading about it. If you are able to please take a few pictures documenting your installation process.

Will do. I am curious myself.

After placing the order, the vendor actually upgraded the order since the white vinyl I ordered was not in stock in the size I wanted. I may actually try another brand also and see how it compare side by side.

Look what came in the email earlier today? SO CLOSE... weeks away now ;). Any suggestions on what to check before signing the paper before the delivery person leave? I am assuming I should open the wood crate and inspect everything at the very least...Both the crate and components that are inside.

Exciting. I’d definitely try and inspect at least the glass. That is the hardest part to deal with if something is wrong. In my experience some delivery guys will try to hurry you up. Take your time to the extent you can. Also take pictures of the crate if you spot anything that may indicate a problem - dents, crushed corners, anything indicating undue force - before you open it. Proper documentation always helps when making return/replacement claims.

While shipping is in progress...
  • Did managed to finish the caulking and painting in the room.
  • I also managed to setup my desk to get a better feel for how much room there is to work with.
Squeezing the 210G into this room seems tight. I have not yet to install the printer or bookshelves for things either. The yellow sticky represent the dimensions of the tank.

Water Storage:
  • I ordered two 30G water storage containers earlier. The plan is to house one for freshwater and one for saltwater.
  • 1573362246923.png

  • I plan to stack these on a simple platform, elevated above ground 3"-5" inches.
  • Undecided where to place them exactly. Two options currently. The blue area is preferred as it already has an indention for this. However the tank sticks out from the wall a little and would make the process of moving the washer a bit of a pain if I had to move it for whatever reasons. It's why the white area is currently preferred. The final decision will be when the tank arrive and I see how they fit in either places.

This SUCKS....literally

I got in a pair of suction cups today in preparation for the move. This should help with carrying the tank a lot better than using my bare hands. This thing can SUCK.

What does a Prybar has to do with reefing?

Something I received today in preparation for delivery this Friday! Never opened a box with something like this before....so looking forward to using this thing ;) . The goal is to use the prybar to open the crate and inspect the package before delivery person leave if all possible.

A couple of water containers arrived today. So far it looks to be the perfect size for the space I have for it and would accommodate a 15% water change perfectly. One would be use for freshwater. One would be used for saltwater.
The open question will be where to best place the water station between the two places below once I built the platform for both containers?

Option 1:

Option 2:

I also had a chance to see how these containers could also be used for automatic water change behind the tank. Instead of just one container to refill the evaporate water, I would need three containers here but it looks to fit the bill. What do you think?

Looking good. I am in the process of doing the same - 3 containers for AWC. Where did you get those containers? I looked on Amazon but can’t find anything larger than 7 gallons. Also those look very compact for 30 gallons - my 20g trash can looks massive in comparison. Are you planning to build a rack to stack them?

It's likely Canada has different offering due to shipping limitation. These are available on Amazon via here. I have found it is less expensive to order from other vendors than amazon.

I plan to build a platform and stack them; both to get them off the floor and leverage vertical space. They are very compact which is great for tight spaces. It also has a relatively wide opening cap at the top and an 3/4in. bulkhead fitting at the bottom which means I don't have to drill or installed opening for bulkhead.
