I'm a sucker for tangs. Always have been and always will be. But we are limited in how many and what types we house in our reefs by tanks sizes, other inhabitants etc. But that won't keep us from talking about them today! :)

1. How many tangs (surgeonfish) do you have in your reef tank now?

2. What tangs do you have and if you're comfortable with it tell us what size tank you have?

I have four tangs, a naso, a purple, a white cheek powder brown, and a Kole tang. I have a 210 gallon mixed reef tank.

I have six in QT right now: Achilles, PBT, gem, yellow, purple, desjardini and tomini. They all will go to my 210 mix tank. The PBT, yellow, purple and tomini used to be in my 120 galloon.

7 Tangs. Gem, Power Blue, Purple, Blonde Naso, Yellow and 2 Sailfin. Had an Achilles, but bullied it to death before I could catch and remove one. Also had a Sohal which was worse than the powder blue, but managed to capture and trade it in before it killed something. Next will be a Chevron, unless I decide to try another Achilles.

Tanks is 265 gallon display. Here is a video of feeding time. Third nori meal of the day, so way less crazed than early feedings.

I have 1 yellow tang that was bought at about the size of a quarter. It’s in my 60 gallon, but just started a quote for an upgrade from planet aquarium.

Tangs are my favorites as well, I currently have for juveniles (biggest fish is less than 4 inches long)... a sailfin, blue eye kole, a naso, and a scopes... and yesi know I’m gonna get a tang police warning.... in a 4’ long 75 gallon with a ton of live rock and algae... I’ve also got a 135 gallon 6’ tank that I’m working on the set up and stand for, which everyone will be moved over soon.....

I dont have any in my tank now as I only have a 75 gal but I just left my local petco and saw a sailfin that I was tempted to save from being there. Theres been a hippo since before Christmas thats head is slowly getting more damaged and they won't come down on price just to save the fish. I know they get to big for my tank though. Idk if I should just get it and try to rehome to save from the certain death of petco or just let it go..

Tomini, Yellow, Blue Hippo, Purple (added last) 90g mixed reef with 100 pounds rock and caves. One sheet Nori a day. Three other good feedings a day. Purple clearly the boss. All swim around and pick on rocks all day. I’ll turn myself into Tang police when they storm the Capital.

1x Achillies 10"
1× dussumieri tang 1ft
1×yellow tang 7"
1×tomini tang 5"
All tangs get along well besides my Achillies and dussumieri fight at least once a day. Also as they both keep growing more aggression is being shown twords other fish that are not tangs.

Love my tangs. Have had many over the past 20 years.
Currently 180 gallons with 4. Two Hawaiian yellows, one purple and one Tomini. All get along great. Keep them rocks clean.
