Still debating if im buying a Ecotech Radion G5 Xr30 or a Hydra 64HD

i got the icecap v3 salinity checker .. always accurate... i was dumb enough to think my old manual refractometer was ok until everything was in check and double checked with a second brand of tests .. ‍♂ Lessons learned .. the sr-80 is really nice .. the stand is diy from ikea .. i wasnt gonna pay 1200$ Canadian for a aps stand in black .. so build one myself cost me like 280$ canadian dollars with 2x3 wood, screws and the kitchen stand in white... Now im just waiting for the tank to mature.. acans died, torch died, frogspawn died.. still got my zoas and my 5 RBTAs .. sixline jumped.. replaced him with a scopas tang and yellow coris wrasse

I seen that Icecap one, but when I was ready to buy, it was always out of stock. I had heard good things about it. Glad it’s working out! As far as the stand, it looks really nice. Good choice on color. I am not a fan of the APS stands myself...black or brown. IM should have never stopped making the white ones. So sleek looking! I am sorry to hear about your losses, sometimes this hobby can be heartbreaking just as much as rewarding. I am learning this myself! I just started using the mesh screen top that came with my tank. It does the job for now. I ended up ordering a custom mesh/acrylic lid that should be arriving by the end of the month. It will allow me to feed my fish without removing the lid. Woohoo! Lol

All kidding aside, the new Radions look nice! Are you planning on one or two XR30’s? If only one, I would go with 2 G5 XR15’s Blue.

I hate the mesh top .. i find it ugly imo ..
i already run 2 x HD Prime for now its fine but wanting less shadows and more par.. Hydra 64HD would be a good choice but dang those new xr30 gen 5 blue are tempting

Dude! The stock mesh top works, but is unsightly for sure. I’m actually used to looking at it now and it does not bother me as much as I thought it would. The cool thing is, when I get the new one that sits recessed, it will look sleek and streamlined. Check out Octoaquatics website for the pics of the lids. Definitely worth the price. Now, as far as the Radions!? They are worth the price too. Ecotech makes top of the line products and we all know it, hence the price lol. I would go 2 XR 15’s or 1 XR30. Just not sure about the spread. Seems like there would be more spread with the 2.

ill check for the lid, im in canada so a bit pricy to get custom stuff from us, the lights are not cheap G5 Xr30 with mount is 1500$ Can, The Hydra 64Hd is 1100$ with the mount, i still want to keep both PrimeHD on each side and have one big light in the middle

Everything is good, came with everything you need to plug and calibrate the pump.. interface is easy.. for now im trying to dial up the DKH to stay at 8.2

Got an Ecotech MP40QD too

im having lots of cyano on my new sand
Don’t want to use chemi clean .. im sure tank still recycling the new rocks i added and new live sand .. i didnt reuse my hawaii black sand from my IM 40 .. but no phosphates like zero and indetectable nitrates .. i feed twice a day 5 fish

Me too! I have an IM 20 on a stand build from ikea kitchen cabinets but with this size of tank I imagine that you would need to reinforce the structure.

Its a 2x3 wood reinforced Ikea corner kitchen cabinet, i dont have mesurements, but i built it so the ikea stand slide fit on it,
