Hi There,

I just got a REEFER 170 yesterday. It's still packed.

I have the opportunity to have one of these two skimmers at an affordable price.

First, I'd like to know whether any of these two will do a good job in a REEFER 170 (34 gal). Bearing in mind that I won't grow any SPS.

If so, which one should I go for?

I don't need an overkill skimmer, just one who will do his job perfectly.
Any others suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you in advance.

Kay

Hi Kay,

I have a reefer 170 and am happy to share pictures and any information which could be useful to you.

I have a reef octopus classic 150 and it works well, very happy with it.

Good luck with it all.

Hi Ludders. Thanks for sharing.

Is it user-friendly with regard to the settings and all?

I like Reef Octopus, does a great job, very easy to clean, especially the collection cup.

I had the Bubble magus and had many problems with it. I replaced with the Reef Octopus and and much happier. Far superior build quality and very easy to use

I am not a fan of over skimming so I would say no to both, look into the Aqua Maxx WS-1, Simplicity 120.

With the reef Octo, would you be able to have a refugium with it or does it take up too much space? I was thinking about using egg crate to separate
