Tried to get my generator going yesterday. It would not start up. Hope I didn’t get a lemon because there’s no return on these models. I will try some more and if it doesn’t start I’ll take it to Northwest Motor Sports shop and see what they can do.

Purchased this liquid coral supplement to get an idea what the bottle is like, expiration dates, and how I can dose it.
DC9D5D70-BEB6-4BBC-8F80-816B5172C43B.jpeg

This is not the size bottle that has the nipple on the cap for connecting dose tubing, however I can install a 1/4” RO tubing bulkhead on the cap. I have to stick with this size bottle since it’s the most I can dose in one week’s time per instructions and one week is the longest period of time this supplement can be kept without refrigeration.

I changed part of the title of my thread from control freak referring to the Apex, to ULNS with the Red Sea NOPOX which is bacteria blended with a carbon source and RS corals food AB+. I also added Ecotech AB+ which is another AB+ although it’s unrelated to RS AB+. Ecotech AB+ is a setting for their Radions that is optimum for SPS coral growth.

Anyone know the length of the pump side cable to COR pumps? I’m thinking of getting the controller board on the left and putting it on the side of the 170 utility cabinet. Don’t know if the cable would be long enough.

I’m no longer interested in the board on the right because it won’t fit two DDRs. I measured an IKEA cabinet and it fits two DDRs inside while the DOSs to dose them can be mounted on the IKEA door. I think these boards in the picture will have names illuminated on the top.

Contacted Stratos of Printed3D.Parts about etching of glass on Voss bottles to use for dosing with his bottle holders. He actually doesn’t do the etching but he does make stencils for it. Not knowing anything about etching and thinking it’s some kind of sand blasting, I turned to YouTube and here’s a little something:

Here’s a look at a sample:

Just to be sure these supplements can be kept in clear glass bottles I contacted Red Sea. They said Magnesium and NOPOX are fine being exposed to light, however NOPOX can’t be kept in acrylic containers because it will crack them. As for Reef Energy AB+, it has to be kept in a dark bottle because it contains vitamins and proteins. Here’s where my friend Mark comes in. He’s been collecting and dealing in antique glass bottles for many, many years. If he doesn’t have a bottle made of dark colored glass, he should be able to find one that I can substitute for a Voss 375mL one. And if all else fails I could paint a bottle dark.

Mounted the RS ReefDose 4 in the 250 cabinet. Hope there’ll be enough clearance for the pipe coming up from the COR-15 next to the doser. Won’t know until I have the stand off the table and tank on stand to connect up and down pipes. And that will probably be quite awhile.

Bought this EB8. Goes right above itself on the end of the IKEA. Neptune Systems quit making them. I didn’t want another EB832 because the accessory ports just leave room for more tinkering with electronics and that will slow me down. I need to get on with this build.

Had the UV on the far side of the CO2 reactor. It was hanging off the end.

So I moved it to the top to save space.

However this created a problem since the Trident was to go on the reactor. I solved this problem. Buying a screw-on shelf for the Trident by Harry’s Aquatics. This will screw in and hang off the end of the stand.

Wired in these couple switches to an Apex BoB in the IKEA. Not sure what to switch with these. One rocker switch and one push button switch.

Installed the announciator for alarms on the Apex. Adaptive Reef makes one like it but I gathered the components before they came out with theirs. The beeper I got off Amazon, 24V cable from BRS, and box a guy 3D printed I ran across on Neptune forum. I was just going to run out the cable with extensions and set it on a counter. But there won’t be a counter in my fish room.

First pic the thing disassembled before installing.

Drilled a hole through top of IKEA for cable to run through. Tied a knot so it can’t be pulled through hole and threaded cable through hole in box so wires can’t be pulled from box.
