@Skibi thanks! I just couldn’t stand the stock sump for the reefer 250. In some ways I wish I had the Octo Reef 15 sump to give me more room in the cabinet. If I had the space I would totally go for something like a 6 footer. If you could do it I say go for it.

My system with tank, stand, sump, equipment, rock, and all the water is quite heavy but my dad said the floor could hold it if I put it where we reinforced the floor many years ago. I trust his judgement with something like this but I don’t think he realizes how much non-reefing stuff I’ll have in the same room like furniture, fridge, and appliances. If this is all too heavy I plan to get a custom built tank with just a couple inches shaved off each side of the dimensions of a reefer 250 but keep it on same 250 stand, cut my sump volume in half, and downgrade equipment accordingly. I figure I could cut out enough rock, water, and glass weight off to equal about 250 pounds. This is a ball park figure I came up with the other night but only an emergency plan I hope I will never have to execute.

My Icecap Gyre Controller won’t connect to the internet. It’s due for an update. I’m going to shut down my Apex until I have the tank up and running after the move.

I use Elmer’s wood putty to fill in the gap above the cam lock pieces. Then I’ll let it semi-dry, wipe off the excess with water sponge , then paint over.

I’m thinking of putting my Icecap Gyres like the bottom left. Then put an Apex WAV on the overflow box pointing forward. The placement of the gyres doesn’t get to the back of the middle of the tank or even much of the front middle. I plan to have my rockscape as two pillars one on each side so the WAV will blow right between them.

My landlord just gave the current tenants of my house a ninety day notice to vacate. I’ll be moving in during the middle of winter so the logistics of handling the tank and furniture could be tricky with ice and/or sloppy weather.

This is really a bummer - do you have a nearby place to go already? At least it's a 90 day warning but that's still a royal pain.

I just realized I goofed with my Apex. Although I did a factory reset as discussed on this page or the page before, I will need to do firmware updates to keep the Apex Operating System up to date. So I’m thinking of getting just the base unit and EB832 going to do that just until I’m done setting up my tank.

Bought at Petco. I’ve got another one the same except background color is light blue. Very absorbent material. Throw rug for floor in front of tank.

Started to follow, and now need to catch up!
@Perfectly_Imperfekt1 Thanks for the subscription! Is that a skunk in your avatar? I hope the scent glands were removed! I've heard they make great pets. I remember as a little kid at an antique gas engine show a guy there had one.

Yep that’s a skunk. The picture was taken at my friends farm. The scent gland was removed. Skunks are like a cat with their fur being very thick and course like a goat but a lot longer. Very friendly skunk.

I had a pet skunk as a child. Caught him when he was a few days old. His mom was hit on the highway and we took the 2 baby's. Had the glands removed but 1 didn't make it. His name was Poo. He stayed inside and used a cat box. In hindsight he probably wouldn't of made it in the wild with out the glands so we took care of him until he passed. He still was a little musky but was a good pet.

With the tasks I need to accomplish before the move, all the setting up I have to do to get the tank going, and the fact that I’m sick of setting things up, I’m going to cut some projects short. Such as this cheap Bluetooth strip light and Red Sea screen top instead of the Radion/T5 hybrid and custom Safe Top Lid I’ll do eventually.

I bet you are looking forward to the move. I will be a lot of work but worth it when your done.

I can wait to see water in your tank! Happy Thanksgiving!

@Jeffcb yes it’s been a long time. I got the system in October of 2016 then had it running for 5 months in 2017 before the crash. I’ve been fixing it up since waiting to fill in with water.
