@ddaddy2420 I don't know if you've ever used spigot (street) fittings but they save you a lot of room. here is an example.

No I haven’t used those but from looking at it, I thought that’s what you were using just wasn’t sure of the size.

I like how clean that looks but I’m afraid I may not have enough room, do you mind giving me a ballpark distance in the total height from bottom of pump to the top of the valve?1

@ddaddy2420 sorry I have the part at the shop which is away from my house. I will measure tomorrow when I go back down there if you don't mind. Have you decided how you are going to seal your threads on the flow sensor?

@ddaddy2420 from the bottom of the pump to the top of the check valve is 26” however the valve isn’t glued-in on its bottom end and won’t seat down into that fitting unless the glue allows for it. When it does the height goes down to 25”. Then the top of the valve is street and any fitting with a slip end will fit down on valve taking off another inch. Then there’s the orange pipe. As you shorten or lengthen it, it raises or lowers the height of the whole thing.

I moved the Icecap BBU from inside the IKEA cabinet to the back side of the IKEA. It was heavy and weighing down the door putting stress on the hinges. Also they recommend to keep it in an environment 70 degrees or less. The modules produce some heat in the cabinet and I don’t want to run the fan often.

Ok thanks, I only have 18” from the bottom of my sump to where my return manifold is. Looks like 20” to the bottom of the check valve so I need to shave a few inches.

I plan to clear this off and.....

put this on top. I can no longer sit flat on the floor and climb in there while trying to use a tool in each hand all the while not able to see anything.

I'm surprised that you as a self proclaimed control freak showed us that picture of a messy work station lol

Your controller cabinet is looking super nice.
@ScubaEthan yes most of the time I proclaim myself a Control Freak but occasionally things get rough and I become an Out-Of-Control-Freak. That’s when things get messy. ;-)

Have you concider adding a piece of flexible tubing towards the bottom to absorb any vibration?
@BeMoto Yes I will use silicone tubing between the check valve and the return stand pipe going up in the overflow box. I don’t know how anyone can hard plump a system entirely. I could never get anything measured out right so when I have my final “gap” I fill it in with soft plumbing. Just start out with something a little too long and keep cutting off a little bit of the tubing until you get the right length.

I have the stand up on a stand.

This little fawn came right up to me in my driveway. She looks sickly. The deer around here have been getting what they call CWD Cronic Wasting Disease.

CWD is nasty! We had it bad here in Michigan awhile ago.

Stand looks nice man!
@BeMoto yeah I don't know too much about it as I don't hunt but I know the disease can't be spread to our cows. Most of the deer look healthy so it must be the vulnerable ones who get it. The diseased ones eventually get picked off by wolves and cougars so their populations are up and that makes it possible for special predator hunting. Since the demand for predator hunting tags is high, hunters put in for a drawing and only so many tags are sold.

The stand is stained on the inside by my skimmer that overflowed for a couple of days while I was gone before I tore it down. The white residue stains won't come out, I've tried several things.

Oh that's such a great idea. My return pump has some noisy vibration and I was trying to think of what would be reef-safe to soak up that vibration. Tubing!

So sad about the deer :(

No plumber is without these tools. Top: ratchet down PVC cutters. They slice through pipe even schedule 80 up to an inch and a half thick. Like butter. Bottom pic: tubing cutter. Cuts clean and square.

These are a game changer. I spend way to much on tools. Lol

@BeMoto MrSaltwaterTank was showcasing something like that on one of his videos. It would be nice but I don’t do enough plumbing to justify the cost.
