I just realized I made a big goof on my future Trident. All this time I was planning to put it on the left side of the tank to draw sample water from the return section of the sump. Well that’s where the dosing solutions get dumped. The Trident’s readings will be really skewed of course. And the Trident can’t go in the cabinet or right side of the tank. But if I could somehow put it behind the stand, I could draw water from the skimmer section. This might work. I’m going to sleep on it now. Have a good night.

Wish the trident lines where little longer. Makes it hard to find a good spot with them short
@Crabby48 I was worrying about the future placement of the Trident while I was trying to sleep last night that I had to get up and do a little research. Apparently the sample line is 5 feet instead of 2 feet what i was thinking last night. I sure 5 feet will do the trick to where I wanted the Trident all the time now. But I got to thinking maybe a good place for it is behind the stand? That thought sure gives me a second and new option. I don't care I my tank and stand are sitting some ways away from the wall behind them. After all my UV sterilizer goes back there in a vertical fashion to be honest.

I was going to guess trident line was 4’ but it maybe 5’. Behind the stand wouldn’t be bad but we should have the option of showing it off if wanted.
Trident was the single best equipment I bought besides apex.

@Crabby48 I would like to show it off if I can but I only have so much room. I think the both lines are 5 feet.

Just a Turkeys weekend update. First I was trying to move an FMM module to the other cabinet and add a 5th FMM module at the same time. The Apex wasn’t recognizing the module I moved or the new module. I deleted a bunch of modules and added them back purposely because that worked before. Well a bunch of modules got their programming and configurations crisscrossed and it was a huge mess. I immediately sent a ticket to Neptune Systems for help but it was Friday night wouldn’t you know. Thank God for Fusion’s system schematic function. I was able to isolate each FMM module and test its output with a power source and my wiz bang announciator. I put it all back to Fusion’s originality in record time. Fusion allowed me to fix it so fast and easy that I didn’t have time to go into panic mode.

I had to replumb the output assembly on my Varios pump again. Pretty sure I got it right this time. After watching one of Reef Bum’s videos I definitely use primer on my glue jobs and not just PVC cement. He plumbed his entire system without primer and everything leaked. Nothing like doing it right the second time!

This is one of those IKEA cabinets on the 250 stand. I might need another for the RS 170 electronics cabinet. I have to get three more Apex modules in there plus I need a place for my dosing containers. I have diy containers but will go to DDR/DOS combos eventually. This DOS is strictly for W/Cs and my only one.

Sneak Peak from Adaptive Reef.

About two weeks ago Terrence from Neptune Systems interviewed Kyle from Adaptive Reef for a Let’s Talk Reef video on YouTube. A. Reef is coming out with a promising product I’m interested in. It’s a clear section of PVC that is an inline probe holder. Controller probes can be inserted into the pipe and a little collar screws down around the probe to hold it in there and keep water from escaping the pipe. Water flows through the pipe and the probes are able to test the water. This keeps probes out of the sump where room is prime real estate. From the picture looks like it holds a few probes. Well I emailed Adaptive Reef right away and asked about availability. Kyle got right back to me and said they’re building them right now and they will be available at BRS but didn’t say anything about an ETA. So then emailed BRS about an ETA. Mark at BRS said with a busy holiday schedule going on right now it looks like the probe holders won’t be available until after the new year starts. It sounded like from Kyle’s email that they will be in a limited supply. Well if the price is right I’ll snag one. My probes are always getting bumped around my sump when ever I do something in it.

This morning I emailed Kyle at Adaptive Reef again and asked him for the overall length of the probe holders and size of pipe for inlet and outlet plumbing. I’m thinking this thing has to be mounted vertically because in the horizontal position air bubbles will get trapped in it. I might put it inline between the Varios return pump and the UV. The ideal place would be behind the stand but would be difficult to service there.

Probe holder looks nice. Wish I can have one in my hands to look it over. I agree behind the stand would make maintenance a struggle if you don’t have plenty of room. Room is always an issue.

@Crabby48 yes it will have to be in a place where it can be maintained as the transparency will cause algae to grow inside. Plus only the tips of the probes will be in the pipe so a good portion will be sticking out. So maybe in the back of the stand will be good so the protruding probes won’t get bumped.

Bought two sticks of 80/20. They call the stuff the industrial erector set. I’m making the T5 part of the DIY hybrid lighting system with this stuff. The jug is for the waste coming from the Trident. They recommend using a 2 liter container. I couldn’t find a 2 liter one so this is an 1800 mL one.

1800 might be a little shy. Normal operation leaves extra alk reagents and if you do manual and all reagents are used I think I average 2200-2300 waste. If you don’t preform the extra alK test you probably be ok.
When you switch to second alk reagents trident gives you the option to empty waste so then you will definitely be ok

@Crabby48 so it automatically switches to the second bottle of alk reagent and notifies you to do an optional waste container empty at that time? What happens if I don’t and the Trident produces more than 1800 mL of waste?

Hope I don’t confuse you more. Any size container can be used but it will require you to empty it more. I’m lazy and forgetful

No. When first bottle is empty you need to manually switch it to the second bottle. When you switch it out you run a task and during that it ask you if you want to empty the waste container. Trident keeps track of how many test are left and how full or empty your waste container is. Your bottle will work but you probably will have to empty half way through the reagents.
When you setup trident it ask what size waste container your using.

Picture of the page. I have mine set at 3400 ml and come close if every drop of reagents used witch is rare.
824D9F40-0528-4F47-9719-06A20AEFC201.png

where it says reset you can select waste at anytime or wait until alk or all reagents are changed.

Thanks @Crabby48 I have it straight now. No confusion. To allow for more convenience I think I’ll send this container back and get a bigger one.
