I’m reusing this 2x4 to remount it to the UV again. I want to reposition the clamps and that leaves the original screw holes. So I’m turning the board over to the good side and painting it so it will look good facing out.

Looks good, im no good with the technical DIY side of the hobby lol.
What kind of lights will you be using? sorry if youve said already.
@Angel_Anthias lover thanks for all the comments. In my reefing history I’ve done very little DIY so this is pretty much all new for me. That’s why I keep redoing things. No experience and got to make sure I get it right. I’ve been buying some unknown to me tools along the way and picking up some skills using them. Its a lot of fun! When I finally get water in this thing I should be tired of the technical side and ready for the biological side. I hope to put just as much effort and time into the biological side as I am the technical.

As to my lights I’m using two XR15s flanked on the front side by two dimmable T5s and flanked on the back side by two dimmable T5s. I’m going to set up a Radion RMS spanning left end of tank to the right. Then hang T5s with individual reflectors from the RMS using 80/20 brand hardware.

Removed the UV 2x4 and clamps that were on the back of the stand. I’m 95% sure it goes on this left side.

Good thing I left myself a +/- 5% error when quoting the quote in this post. I’m back to not knowing where the heck the UV will go.

I have the Varios return pump’s power supply and control box mounted. The COR-20 is the main return pump but this Varios runs the chiller, GAC reactor, and UV. Now that I’m back to up in the air about where to put the UV, I have a renewed interest in the clear tube inline probe holder. They could be both, the UV and the probe tube, mounted vertically on the back of the stand inline to each other. I would have to set the tank and stand about 10”-12” from the wall. This is a major drawback for the mounting on back.

I do not have one, kinda want to buy one though.
@BeMoto I did a Google search on them and some are very reasonable. But I’m over the hump on the part of my build before livestock so probably too late to buy one now. And not sure how well they hold there value if I were to sell it.

I've got a surprise for you all I ordered that will be here next week. Would anyone care to guess as to what it may be? It's the last major piece of equipment I will buy. From here on out the purchases will be accessories except for maybe a couple upgrades down the road.

Inline probe holder? Remember we were discussing that 4 slot probe holder but it would take up too much room. This looks like a fairly simple setup if you don’t need all 4 probes.

@ddaddy2420 the surprise is not a probe holder although I'm interested in one again. After measuring the UV with a bunch of its fittings, it won't work on the outside of the left end of the stand. It definitely will have to go on the back of the stand. That is why I'm interested in the probe holder again. With any amount of plumbing on the back of the stand along with all the mountable space back there, it would be easy to add a holder to the UV's plumbing. At the time I thought of having the UV on the side of the stand I knew the holder wouldn't have fit there too. Now the main drawback of having both units on the backside is their maintenance. I might have to space the stand up to 12 inches away from the wall. I won't know exactly until both units are installed.

I like the holder in your picture that's a slick feature the Adaptive Reef one doesn't have although I' impartial to AR's mostly because you can see when the probes need cleaning.

Now about the surprise. I don't consider the holder a main piece of equipment because it's an accessory to the plumbing and controller. Now that the last main piece of equipment is purchased, I just need to buy plumbing fittings, another IKEA cabinet, and 80/20 hardware pieces to installed the T5's along side the Radion RMS light rail. There might be a few other things I will buy but I can't think of what they may be right now.

Following along! Definitely recommend a 3D printer! As long as good in design or willing to learn, you can make so many gadgets.
@kartsu thanks for the sub! I'm going to look into buying a 3D printer. I consider myself to be fair as far as being able to design various gadgets.

Forgot a remaining purchase from Aqua Rocks Habitat. It’s going to be this sand bowl for sand sleeping wrasses and a magnetic mountable glass anemone jar for anemone’s to anchor their foot from the same company.

@ddaddy2420 here’s an inline probe holder from Coralvue that has a plug to put in place if you don’t want a probe in place and keeps the water from escaping. No need for a valve.

Oh that's neat! I'm thinking I may have too much sand and I'm trying to figure out if I should remove some. I suppose I could use something like this and try to get my future pistol shrimp/goby to use it for their cave. Thanks - I didn't know this existed!

I'm at a loss for your surprised but eagerly awaiting to find out!
