@Brent Behringer I have the Klir Di-4 too and am really excited about it. I've used filter socks before and liked the results but got tired of cleaning them. What return pump did you get?
So what did you have to go though to install the Klir into your one tray? Any input/photos/write up would be great

@Brent Behringer I have a custom made sump from Synergy Reef Systems. It has two standard holes for 4” filter socks where the Klir fits without any modifications. I have a removable cover for the second hole from Synergy.

Received my Icecap 24v BBU for my Icecap gyres. This is the new 24v version that’s especially for the Icecap gyres. It also connects to the pumps differently than the old BBU. Went to Harbor Freight Tools and found this Mighty Mite 4” table saw. It will be perfect for cutting PVC pipe. The thing is tiny. It only cost $38!

Are you putting this on the back of the tank?
@Brent Behringer it goes on the back. This is solely for pod production no macro here. The Bio-Bale in the picture will grow micro film algae with a light on it in the HOB. This way I can still provide food and refuge for pods without strands of Chaetomorpha getting caught in my Apex flow sensors. The Bio-Bale provides tremendous surface area for micro algae. I went with the HOB because I have no room for a refugium in my sump. Another reason for the HOB is I hate light spilling over from a fuge in the sump because it grows film algae all over the sump and in the skimmer.

Test wired up one of this set of three toggle switches on the switch guard to the Apex Breakout Box. Each switch input slot of the BoB has 5 volts of power running through it. The toggle switch is illuminated on the end with a LED that takes a whole separate switch input slot on the BoB to power it. This way each switch takes two switch inputs, one for the switch itself and one to power the LED. The BoB has only six switch input slots for wires. That just leaves me with a capacity for three illuminated switches for this BoB.

Oh man I think I goofed! I had two v1 Icecap BBUs daisy chained together in my electronics cabinet to backup my router and Apex in case of a power outage as I’m just configuring the cables. I forgot to plug in the charger to one of the BBUs but a voltmeter was plugged into it. This power draw from the voltmeter drained it completely. The user guide says after each time of draining the the battery the power capacity of the next full charge will be diminished from the last full charge. I may have ruined one of the BBUs. I have it charging now and I will check it out in a little while. I have redone this cabinet a few times and I’m forgetting the layout of the cable routing behind the controller boards. I had everything labeled at one time but in my haste left that for after I’m finished.

Preliminary mockup position of a controller board with modules and power bricks. The white board will be painted Apex grey and the cord track/slots will be mounted to them to put T5 ballasts and wire harness in. I still have to cram two energy bars, a BBU, and Radion power bricks opposite the controller board you see here.

I’ve been charging my Icecap BBU # A for about 18 hours now. The voltmeter doesn’t show any signs of life. I even checked the other voltmeter and nothing. I’m thinking of taking it to this place to see if they can open it up and replace the core if it doesn’t cost me too much.

Went to Ace and bought $80 worth of hardware. Although not pictured is a 4.5” hole saw that cost me 30 some bucks. I have a pint and a quart of Apex orange brush on paint for the IKEA cabinet I couldn’t find this color in spray paint.

This was a really hard to find fan to cool the modules that go in the IKEA cabinet. It’s 24V DC and will plug into an accessory port on an FMM module. The ridiculously expensive hole saw makes the hole for it. Funny thing is I didn’t have to buy the mandrill for the hole saw because a friend had one to borrow. If I did then the one time hole drilling would have cost me over $70.

I lucked out here. I had one end of the charger plugged into the Icecap BBU and the other wall adapter plugged into the Kasa Smart Wi-Fi powerstrip however the Kasa outlet wasn’t switched “on”. This way the BBU couldn’t charge. After switching the outlet on for a couple hours the voltmeter read 13.5 Volts. Whew!!

Received some items today. Red and black wires have plugs on them for the 24V fan to connect to an FMM accessory wire. Middle package wire is version 2 optical sensor. Wire package on right is 24V accessory with bare wire end to connect fan to FMM module. 3D printed items are from @Difrano From left to right: Hanna PO4 Checker holder, ATO mount, and Hanna Alkalinity Checker holder. Tonight I’m going to jerryrig the fan and see how it runs.

Nice to see they arrived in one piece! I was not expecting a 3D printed part to survive UPS handling :D:D:D, I am excited following your progress.

@Difrano yeah I have a lot of first hand experience with UPS handling. All the big boxes I get from them have gouges in them--especially the fragile stuff it seems. I don't know if it's from the crew that works this town or if it's like this across the country, but it's terrible here.
