Small progress today. Got the GHL power strip mounted. I plugged one of the CADE power strips into the GHL hoping the GHL would power the whole strip but it didn’t. Not sure why, so I’ll be working on figuring that out. Two things I’m not good at: tech and electricity.

Got the filter roller in today and got it put together. Next, I will cut out the sock holder and work on plumbing the filter roller. It’s definitely a challenge getting the drain connected. I purchased some fittings that are too big. I’m gonna look for 40mm sch 80 fittings and hope I can order them from Spears or find a local dealer.

The gate valve will also have to be positioned horizontally due to the height of the filter roller. I’ll slide the clarisea over to the right once the sock holder is out of the way. And since the gate valve is positioned like it is, I’ll have to route it to the front of the clarisea. Finding metric fittings will be the next hurdle.

Ok I got the sump modified to accommodate the clarisea. It barely fits under the gate valve but it does fit. I wish I had the option to run the gate valve straight out instead of a 90° turn. I could make the change but I’d have to buy a new gate valve. Hopefully I can plumb it like it is and not interfere with the filter operation.

My favorite update so far! I’ll let the video speak for itself. A friend and I came up with this in about 5 min and I’ve never been instantly happy with my rock scape until now.

Finally making some progress after Christmas! I like the corrugated pipe that CADE supplies for the return pump and I wanted to replicate that for connecting the drain to the Clarisea. I looked everywhere and could only source it from China.
I also wanted to reduce the distance that the gate valve protrudes out because that was wasted space. I cut out 3” of the 40mm main drain where it passes through the chiller compartment. I’ll glue that coupling but won’t glue anything else for now since the drain is such low pressure. You can see in previous pics how I moved the gate valve to the right a couple of inches.

Much better fit now, and I can get the filter roller out a little easier when needed.

I think that’s all I needed to complete in order to get this thing wet! I’ll still need to figure out how I’m going to plumb the UV but that won’t happen until I move the fish over anyway.
About time to get some water in this thing and do a leak test!

I know it’s a work in progress, I’d love to see some more full tank shots. The s2/p 1200 is on my short list and there aren’t many running this size. Majority run 1500/1800 peninsulas that I find. Great work so far!

End view of the sump. I plan on running my top off water directly to a float valve and from my mixing station 55 gallon RODI reservoir, so the ATO compartment in the foreground is being used for storage for now. I wish I had the guts (cojones) to drill holes in the glass and use it for bio media. But I’m sure if the engineers who built the sump were to do that, they’d do it differently so I’m ok forfeiting that bit of sump space

Ok here we go! LFS only had about 75 gallons available for me so I’ll get the rest tomorrow. I’m surprised that 75 gallons filled the tank up as much as it did. I’d like to know exactly how much water the rocks displace. Maybe Carib sea has that info.

I weighed out the salt in kg. 10.65kg per 75 gallons. Using my utility pump to move water around. It’s propped up on some egg crate. One thing I’m concerned about is that my live sand was sitting in fresh water until I got the salt added. Hope I didn’t kill the bacteria.

Having a celebratory beer. Kinda ironic that I’d have this beer tonight because I was watching the 2022 World Series when
I won the aquarium! Houston ended up winning the series! Lifetime fan here!

Getting it dialed in. Right now I have my pump at 80% and everything is pretty quiet. I can hear a slight trickle in the drain, so at least for now, I’m thinking it could be due to the fact that I have the gate valve oriented horizontally. However, with the doors closed on the cabinet, I can’t hear it. Maybe that little bit of cavitation will work itself out eventually.
115 gallons total in this 150 gallon system. In the pic of the pump chamber, I’m assuming that’s about how much of a gradient you want in order to keep it quiet. I’m thinking about placing some sort of floss before the pump chamber since I can’t find a screen for the pump inlet yet.

Following along! Tank is coming a long nicely! I'm digging the drumset and pretty sure I saw a fender jazz or P bass in a reflection. How great to have a reef in your music room!
