So far I am loving the hobby. Like most new reefers I’ve made some mistakes but I’ve learned from them, and I’m starting to get in the routine of maintaining the tank on a regular basis. Will be documenting my progress and any potential issues I run into along the way!

The tank is sitting on an ikea dresser, not really sure of the name but I added a 1 inch piece of plywood over the top to add more support. On the side of the dresser I have an ADJ Power Strip that allows me to switch on or off each outlet individually which comes in handy during water changes and maintenance. The jebao and mightyjet controllers are mounted to the left side of the tank, as well as a digital temperature monitor.

You have a very clean set up! How do you like the Jebao SLW-10?
I love it! I wish there was some info on what the GPH is on each setting, but right now I keep it running on W1 at the second lowest setting. At first I was reluctant to add a powerhead to this tank because I didnt want to add more equipment to the display but I feel like additional flow was absolutely necessary especially with my rock work and eliminating dead spots.

I added two new frags (Darth Maul Zoa and GB Packers Zoa) and an anemone!

I removed all the frags that were glued to the rock structure on the left side and top and placed them on the sandbed for now. Hopefully the rainbow anemone decides where it wants to place itself soon.

I’m battling either dinos or diatoms because theres a rusty colored algae on the sandbed whenever the lights are on. The corals seem fine and ive been keeping most of my parameters stable. I have a bag of GFO in the back to help combat my phosphate issue. I’m not getting too worried about little things like that however. One lesson I’m learning is to not overreact to different issues and to not overthink the hobby.

4.5 month updated FTS:

RBTA settled in nicely, corals are growing slowly, no complaints other than a minor hair algae issue, but I’ve managed to bring my phosphates down and I’m keeping up with my weekly water changes.

Be careful of that nem, don’t want it wandering into slow-10, it will shred it and crash your tank. Other than that awesome setup. I just recently bought the same tank 2nd hand and am hoping to set it up. I really want an anemone but am reluctant of having one in such a small display.
