So it’s been quite some time since I’ve updated this thread and thought my current battle with aptasia might be a good thing to document in the hopes that maybe it helps someone else.

Like every other aptasia infestation it started with a few popping here and there and was dealt swiftly with F aptasia and/or aptasia X. However it felt like every time I treated a few many multiples would then show up making problem worse. It is now so bad that “epic infestation” is the phrase I would use to describe it.

I had someone from a saltwater maintenance company come out and look at it and he said just start over.

While I respect his opinion, I am not ready to scrap 13 plus months of work so I have employed the following methods to help combat the problem:

CBB who appears to be getting a taste for them and has been thriving.

2 ORA Aptasia eating filefish with 2 more on the way.

30 peppermint shrimp being delivered this week. In re to this I have a section of my sump with a kessil light set up in case I need to move LPS there if shrimp start to harass them.

I will document my progress and let you know if this works.

If this fails, I plan to remove shrimp and wrasses and dump a boat load of nudibranchs in there.

I have attached some photos from today to show current situation. Ignore dirty glass as my urchin was on my scraper so couldn’t clean it.

Any advice welcome. My inclination is to throw an army at it with understanding that I will always have some in tank which I’m ok with given I have CBB.
