Wanted to help some folks interested in modifying their sump for the new Reefmats from Redsea (specifically the Reefmat 500 for the Waterbox 145.5 & 16).

4CB2FEF7-9268-4D39-A608-B258E08A8515.jpeg Sump is dry. Was a little hesitant to modifying a new sump, but I really don’t want to deal with socks and/or floss again.

Tip* Buy the Redsea Mod Kit. The thin blades help a lot. Waterbox did a heck of a job sealing in the sock section. The glass partitions are a tight fit. Just take your time.

The internal sock section is about 7.5” wide. The Reefmat 500 needs a minimum 7.25” to hang. Utilizing the legs in this configuration will not work. It fits great hanging; secure.

Overall, I’m really happy with the outcome. Can’t wait to get things going.

Hope this helps!

Found time to plumb today.

Had to remove the entry glass partition of the sock section. Otherwise no modifications needed to the Waterbox pipes.

Waterbox provided a 32mm adapter. Used it with the Hose Connecter that came with the Reefmat. Then, just primed/cement it to the end of the main drain. Hose was cut to size.
